The awards page does not specify - but I have to assume that if they give you a mech you get a bay to put it in. Right ?

Yes, but you can't sell Loyalty mech to use that mechbay for other mechs, I think. Good thing this year's Loyalty mechs are well designed.

It's to avoid an error when you are rewarded with a mech while having no free mechbays.
