At least on Canyon, yes. Laser vomit means giving a Kodiak the ability to line up a shot whereas a jump tart doesn't give them that opportunity if doing it right.

Not sure what you mean by "matchmaking gamed" but he is in T1 matches now. And pretty sure there are lower tiers in T1 matches too, especially in low pop servers or times.

That's only because he's won so many with 400+ match scores that his PSR has already bumped to T4...and we already know the MM puts 1s and 4s together. Its not actually a T4 being stuck into a T1 match, its the T1s being stuffed into a T4 match.

For all we know he was T3 after playing ~3 matches. New accounts have accelerated progression through tiers (to better place alts) so it is completely possible to be T3 that fast. And then there is no maybe about him being in T1 matches since its stated that it makes T1-3 matches (plus it probably wouldn't take long to get to T2, T1). Though he could have tanked a bunch of matches at first but we wouldn't know unless he tells us.

Its not possible for him to tank matches because his w/l and kdr are very high as well in season 1 and 2. Only 30 games in S1 and 61 in season 2 plus 10 in fw with very high wlr and kdr.

Wrong. I've repeatedly said I played for FUN... I didn't bother carring about the Tier bar / PSR until I had [REDACTED] like you attacking me and my opinions because I was only a tier 5. There are a lot of people who just play the game for fun, and don't bother with damage farming to race to a Tier 1 number. You still in fact show disdain and contempt for me now that I'm tier 4, and will do so also when I am a Tier 1... its in your nature to attack people. It gives your life meaning. I'm currently ranked 157 on the QP leaderboard, I finished the july season zero board in the top-100 and plan to finish season 1 board in the top-100 also. A better question is how much are you tanking games to only be Tier 2 after nearly four years ?

So what does the above quote say, not only having fun, but 'dragging the tier bar to the very bottom. The last part says even more, 'if it was possible to go to tier 6, i'd have gone for it.'

Yes, If I'd had a lower tier to play fun goofy non-high damage mechs to, I'd have probably gone for it. It proves nothing since you're obviously fine with S3B being an alt account to cheat a leaderboard event payout, but how dare anyone play fun non-meta mechs. That the tier rating system allows 100 games to suddenly be in a higher tier shows nothing but how screwed up it is. That damage output is the only real metric that matters is another problem with it. If I played NOTHING but assaults I'd move it up faster. [REDACTED]

Than it's not so common, that a Tier5 with ~1 KD and WL can end up nearly on top of a Leaderboard.

btw: s3b is minimum Tier3. i made a alt and was half way to Tier2 after 4 games.

And its not a fluke once a day thing.... I just had this game... another T1 to T4 mix job XtremeAlex is T1, Loganaw13 is T1, .Eternal Rage is T1, Lizzee is T1, Classified Information is T2, and I couldn't find tier #s for the rest. Some have profiles but don't display their #s. Many did not have forum profiles at all.

I would say this is a population issue than anything else that would cause that. Although, having a specific weight class saturating the queues amplifies this. It would only get worse in a Heavy tourney (Heavies are the most consistently popular weight class).

Well, now goes weird.
First, if we believe Russ (that Steam-client population is roughly 50% of total population) we will have minimum around 1400 players at 9 am UTC. Thats lowest on steamspy. And thats most probably Oceanic server prime time (evening). The NA and EU prime times give more than 3200 of players in-game (around 8 pm UTC for EU and 5 am UTC for NA). Given that I stay around 8000 ranked on ther number of wins 'leaderboards' while I play, however irregularily, steam spy stats stay close to reality.

Second, I don't have group queue length, but previous estimations claimed no more that 25-33% to be in FP (FW, CW or whatever it's called even devs do not remember how to call that from post to post) and group queue combined.

Third, we believe Russ that MM searches within the respected Tier 'bucket' for 60 seconds and then go to next buckets and tries hard for the next 60 seconds (or was that 120?) and then goes 'anything goes'.

Now, at any reasonable 'night time' for the screeshots above the players population shouldn't have dropped below 2000 in solo queue.

This means that there is around 100 players in 20 one-minute bins (yeah, those are like buckets but are bins). This 15 minutes match (max stretch) plus voting plus eternal connetcting screen plus end of match and then some. Thats around ~20 players available for match making withing their tier. If 'searching' time for those 'mismatched' exceeded 2 minutes (and I rarely see that for more than a minute) then it can be blamed on the low population. If not, then MM is operating under different set of rules (like anything goes) without us (or even devs as could be plain error in the MM code on live server) knowing so. I doubt that releasing those valves for better meat grinder in the event was logical.

So, twitter guys, ask Russ what was that? Just for run of 'official' answer.
