Spawn camping seems to happen a lot in faction play.

Basically the stronger team just pushes through all the way to the location where other team spawns, and sets up firing positions and kills all newly dropped mechs instantly after spawning.

Just curious, has it always been like this, or is this some new tactic they've started using recently?

I personally didn't mind being on the receiving end of this tactic, as it made the match end quicker and I was just farming my free mechbay, but others in my team weren't very happy about it. Posted Image

No, it has always existed and it was more fun when the current walled off drop areas didn't exist. Back then you could kill half the enemy team before they even touched the ground. Ahh, the memories...

Back in the day dropships didn't bother to unload behind cover. They just didn't used to carry large lasers, but mediums. Heck some of 'em didn't even bother to fire.

Imagine sulfurous rift, now take away the defender's hidden drop point. There are three large open area on that map specifically for dropping off defenders. So no, nothing new, just the flavour changed.

As for getting shot in your dropzone, this most often happens when a team sits back and sets up a defensive position right by their dropzone. Should the opfor manage to win the engagement, they've no where else to go but your dropzone to shoot mechs. Try to convince your team to set up an initial forward defense line, and then, when you bring in your second mech, you'll've the time needed to regroup.

Also shooting one's way to the dropzone, it happens when your team engages a more organized team piecemeal. A few mechs engaging at a time'll get ground down before getting much done. Some matches'll have one team fighting six different 2v12 combats leading the opposition to the dropzone in a little trail of broken mechs. Try and get your team to stick together more.

If you let attackers walk all the way through your base, to the drop zone, you kinda deserve to get camped.

I personally though it as pretty funny too ^_^, and I 100% agree that it's our own fault if we suck so much that we let them push through to camp the spawn site. We hard really disorganized team with probably 12 solo players.

Played another match with slightly more organised team, and I think we faced the same group of enemies since there was a massive push towards our drop site. This time we destroyed them and nearly won the whole match as a result.

For the most part right now, the Inner Sphere is unpopulated and all the groups/units are in Clan space pushing attack. They will be more organized, and will steamroll your general skittle group of IS.

The variety is that some will gen rush to flip planets quickly, some will push to farm the kills as quickly and efficiently as possible, and some will try whatever troll tactic seems funny at the time.

FP used to be a bit more fun when at least you might find a few groups or some organization on VOIP. These days its piles of players with LRM mechs and trials and suggestions or calls made on VOIP are met with abuse.

Or if the opposing team refuses to actually LEAVE their drop zones, well, this sort of thing tends to happen.

It's actually alot easier to spawn camp now because everyone is in one spot rather than being spread out across the map like it used to be.

spawn Camping is not new to this at all just need to take it with a grain of salt and figure out what went wrong for you to end up push all the way to your spawn.
