So I unlock and spin a SupplyCache... It stops on Hill Climb!... then it tells me I have to spend my XP to buy it??? So what did I win if I still have to spend my XP on it?

Modules have 2 parts, 1st is an XP purchase to unlock use of the module, and the 2nd is the actual item that is placed on the mech.

What you won was the second.

It's a 6MM CB module. IMO, you won 3MM CB.

A nice 3 million bonus! I wouldn't bother unlocking that module. Radar deprivation or Seismic Sensor are really all you need for pilot modules. Once you get those, you can get some Weapon modules.

Hill Climb is somewhere between 2 million and 6 million cbills.

You can do the XP to unlock access to it (though if you already had access it wouldn't matter), or you can sell it for half the shop value. 2-3 mill isn't bad. Less than that though and I'd just suck it up and do the XP. Hill Climb is pretty useful if you're an assault, or a light looking to exploit map geometry.

Another module is Advanced Zoom. Some players like it, others don't.

Advanced Zoom is very situational. I use it on a few mechs, but not on most.

I'm hoping that I get 1 of the 4 items that I wouldn't mind out of 3 identical supply caches.
One would think the odds are better than even.

But he still won the module, it should just be not usable. He should be able to sell it. Regardless of how the game handles modules. That's how I feel about it anyways.

Hill climb sucks. I don't see any difference with it or without it. I still get stopped by small little hills.

Hill Climb reduces the rate you "decelerate" when trying to climb a steep hill.
You'll still get stuck if you're a slow mech, but a mech with high enough engine power plus hill climb could power over some hills.

It works best if you combine it with a mech that already has poor deceleration and shove in a high engine. Back in the day the Pretty Baby had horrible deceleration, which allowed it to climb inclines of 55 degrees (10 more than what would crutch lights like the Locust) after adding hill climb, allowing you to break the Tourmaline map by getting on top of those pillars.

DONT SELL IT!!!

hill climb is one of the best modules around in many mechs.. Typically faster ones with out JJ's.. Locust, commando, Raven, cicada's, Dragons.. are some of the best ones to use it in.. (as far as mechs i have played it with)

Ever get tired of having to go around walls in canyon and think JJ's are the only way? think again, with hill climb you can zoom up those walls, up and over often faster than mechs with JJ's. But it helps on many maps. Once you learn the spots it works.. (use training grounds for this) You will find places you can either get away from enemies, or take short cuts others can't unless they have JJ's. Sure those that always have JJ's then this module is kinda useless, but if you play lots of speedier mechs with out them, it is wonderful. I have not tested it much on anything over 65 tons though.. I think i tried it on my TDR though.. i forget.

OP: use GXP and unlock it.. save it for when you need it, you will thank yourself Posted Image
