I see there are lots of companies that will gold plate stuff for you.
The question is,
How hard would it be to have a metal BattleMech miniature gold plated, and turned into the pendant for a swanky gangsta necklace?
Is the metal used in the miniatures compatible with the process?
I was thinking of the UrbanMech for my BattleMech gangsta necklace, personally.

Any metallic object can be electroplated.
The trick is preparation.
Edit: But it would be more bling if you got one cast in solid gold.

Using an existing model as a plug for a new cast is doable, but you would need to really go over the existing model as it will loose detail making the mold, and further loose detail making casts from the mold. And don't think about selling them, kinda that whole copyright thing again.
Plating an exiting model is probably easier.... Just make sure it's pristine, you can hide buggered details with paint and filler on a tabletop use mech, Plated bling leaves nowhere for the blemishes to hide.

it just has to conduct electricity to take an electro-plating, i think...but the mechs are made of a soft enough metal, that I think It'd wear pretty quickly...anybody got one of those medalions they put into house mech boxes...want to try it...
