Just a thought, but possibly the following happened:

In the forum login screen, immediately next to the "Sign In" button, there's a little link "Forgot Your Password?". If you accidentally click this instead, it immediately sends you the password change email, without asking for any confirmation.

Happens to me once in a while, especially if I'm signing in from my 5" phone.

I have accidentally sent myself password reset emails by misclicking on the login window.

Embarrassingly, I return to this thread because I think the above is what happened in my case. My one year old daughter was beating me in he face with her socks when I tried to log in.

The issue here is not about nerd rage against PGI, but a legitimate scam by a real sh*t head (maybe using STEAM purchasable data*).
