I don't know how complicated that would be, but what about an event where the Map Versions are rotated randomly for old versions of the map, say, Forest Colony before and after it's revamp.
Perhaps as an idea for halloween

I swear, good idea for random weekends!
2-3 slots of 4 - may be old version maps for voting. Many people missed about old version of Forest Colony )

I must admit that I liked the old Forest Colony Map. The new one, does not feel like Forest Colony.

Yes, the old Forrest Colony was quite awesome. Sure it had it's flaws, but it wasn't just a symmetric arena and the matches were IMHO more "dynamic". The new Forrest Colony is OK, but the old one felt more intense.

How about they just stop re-tooling the maps altogether? Maybe instead of re-doing the ones we have, they create new maps for the choices?

Just for events? no. They should put the classic maps in rotation normally.
Stop modding the existing maps, make MORE and NEW maps. : P

I at least want to see the old maps, even if it is just in the private matches.

I think some of the old maps really need(ed) the rework (Still on that list: Alpine Peaks), but there were some maps with rather subtle changes where the modding worked well (River City IMHO, plays like before, with a little more variation, which is great) and some mods that changed the whole "nature" of the map. For example Frozen City plays entirely different with the modded map: Before it was a fun little brawler map, with a lot of emphasis on urban cover, that allowed for a few interesting choices/gambles (Glacier Tunnel? Valley? Or through the city?), now it's more static warfare, with the former "interesting choices" at places remote from all activity. These maps play so different it really wouldn't hurt to have each of them in rotation.
