Holy touched a nerve it seems.

I would like to think that they Dev are not releasing a boat load of stuff as they are still in a position to take Fan input into consideration. When they start showing the Shiny stuff running about, it is a done deal. Preferences no longer change anything (accept come first patch etc etc.)

The film that was produced in 2009 was indeed Mechwarrior. Ir was just hoping to get on PC and the Consoles. Turns out the Consoles (iOS) went over to Singapore and NA got the PC. That in no way indicates that that material had to be summarily disposed of and can't still be a very good base or sign of what we might see come second quarter of 2012 or Aug. 3048. :P

WRONG

They haven't been working on this game for 2 years. They've been trying to get funding for it while working on DNF. Try again?

Yet you link the video in your very post to backup work they have done in MWO?....

Vaporware is hardly insulting. whatever way you look at it (see that its an opinion).

@Mchawkeye

Yes your right, they probably haven't scrapped all of the concept ideas for that game.
The fact they openly state they reduced the budget, and concept to re pitch it, would suggest that most of the 3015 game, went out the window.

I like you... who are you?... really

At any rate... if anyone has offence with being called a pleb, the most insulting thing anyone in history could ever call someone *roll eyes*... lets just leave that there lol.
I've yet to be offended by anyone on the internet, it would require caring what strangers think of me, and I'm afraid I just don't have that in me.

Quote

Believe it or not I'm not on here to troll (although if you keep giving me ideas) and if you do actually read my posts they do make sense... I am reading yours and to be quite honest it all sounds like you are content to play the 'good little boy' in the hopes that it will favour you.
Actions speak louder than words, discourse and dissatisfaction are acceptable, when done responsibly. You weren't, you knew your posts were inflammatory, indeed went out of your way to make it more so rather than focusing on the discussion. How can I take you seriously in a debate or as an adult?

Quote

Like me or loathe me, makes very little difference to what is on discussion

I can have a meaningful discussion with someone I'd like to punch in the throat, that's just who I am, unfortunately I still don't know what we're supposed to be discussing since all you've done is make demands of the developers,

get real and grow up.. Adults can have conflicting opinions and actually work through them in voice (or indeed this case by posting) not just calling for their head... this isn't Blackadder and believe it or not your opinion is just that... add to that you have little in the way of actual power beyond suggesting it... you sicken me.

I could go draw some nice (read: mspaint stick figure drawing) pictures and say I'm going to be releasing a credible product in a years time... fact of the matter is it wont happen.

Back to the devs ... if you want to be taken seriously, stop giving us 'This is what it will look like'... and actually show us what you have... it will probably silence your critics and excite the population of these forums more than any concept stuff you could show us.

You mention "Adults" When your posts have nothing adult about them, they're juvenile. There's nothing adult about "If you want to be taken seriously." They already are taken seriously, they've got a publisher and serious funding behind them, and another MW for the iOS scheduled to release in the same window, the brand is coming back and in a big way, they don't need you to validate them, and to suggest they have anything to prove to you beyond that they've made a good game come release day, is not adult behavior.

You think the 3d models and textures used in that video sprang out of no where? Obviously it's still content geared towards the final project.

NOOOOOO... my programming powers have been sapped because someone on a forum said I have no knowledge of software development. My one weakness... FORUM TROLLS!

Depending on the modeling constraints, and polygons per mech and animations limited by a game engine not a video engine. yes.

Vaporware has negative connotations towards the developer and the game as part of our society, it's not something you use to discuss a game that might come out late, or you don't know enough about. It's almost solely used by people wishing to discredit developers and **** people off. It doesn't matter what you want the word to mean, language isn't something so easily controlled. Words have connotations built into our society, you can't meant to tell me you don't think Vaporware has negative connotations built into it at this point. That would just lead to me considering you a troll.

Whether or not the word has those negative connotations for you, doesn't change that it does for the majority and our little gamer society as a whole, part of understanding language and using your words responsibly is understanding how your audience will take those words, you would be a fool to think using vaporware would have any reaction other than negative here, and I don't think you're a fool which is why I think it was used intentionally.

I don't think so, the scope may have been reduced, even the release platforms (thankfully), and some of that work may well have been done and scraped, but the core game mechanic doesn't seem to have; it's still a mechwarrior game and I would imagine they were working on that from the beginning, on some level.

You said the devs haven't released anything. I linked those to prove you wrong. I didn't say they've been working day and night on this project since 2009. You really expect to see the notes and scribbles they've made on cocktail napkins? This isn't a mod. As previously mentioned, they can make money by letting reporters bid for exclusives, they may not have a model fully textured and ready to present yet, or any number of reasons why they aren't giving YOU want YOU want.

It would depend in what context the word was used. I linked the definition including the bolded parts for the bit that applies.
There is in my opinion a lack of real information (read not concept) about what they are doing or what has been done.
Vaporware has become a word twisted over the years and taken hostile by many, when for the large part the actual meaning of the word, is not insulting in the slightest.
So it would depend on the individuals reading comprehension to ascertain weather the word was used insultingly or not.

Meanings of words change. Ask Ricky Gervais. Vaporware, I have to agree is a very negative term these days, no matter what a dictionary, or a wiki article would tell you.

So you linked a video made for a project in 2009, which was not for this project but a pitch to developers for a different concept to prove the devs have been working on this one?
it doesn't need to be fully textured, to showcase it. If the game is in a state a 1v1 can be done announced via twitter there really is no reason to not showcase what they have.

Now you're trying to browbeat me and others into being responsible for their negative reaction when you should have know the reaction would be negative. It's your responsibility when you post to do so in a way that isn't inflammatory, using a term like vaporware is always going to be inflammatory when talking with other gamers DV. You can try and justify it all you want, you can try and pretend those negative connotations don't exist, but they will. And you are responsible for using the word, not anyone else.

Is this not what peoples opinions of what the word means? Not its actual meaning?
Peoples response to the word is not under my control im afraid, its called context.

You've never worked on a video game, and you've clearly never had something you've worked hard on torn down by an endless swarm of trolls because you gave them a sneak peak before it was ready. Only idiots release footage of their game before it's ready, it's negative for them in every sense of the word to show people a product before it's finished.

But what words you use are under your control. To use hyperbole and take this to one end of the spectrum: Is the man preaching racial hatred responsible for the people who are incited by his speech to violence? In my world, yes. Because people are responsible for their actions, and if their actions cause something to happen indirectly, that's no different than directly to me.

What you did was walk onto the set of oprah and dropped the n-bomb on live tv, then said "oh, I'm from the 50's, it's okay."

Good job.

And nice try twisting my words around, I think everyone else in here understood me perfectly.

blah blah Ricky Gervais blah blah ... some other nonsence

God I really dont like him as a comedian... He was very good in the not the 11 oclock show that Channel 4 ran for a while. But he's a bit like Jim Carrey now in that he thinks all he needs to do is smile to make people laugh.

He very nearly ruined Stardust (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486655/) for me after De Niro and Mark Strong had done such an excellent job already in the comedic parts.

Back to the thread, I completely remove the mention of calling someone a pleb... it was immature of me when I expect people to be adults.... I just don't know how I will manage to live with myself from now on.
