Greetings Mechwarriors. Today I have 2 simple questions. What are your work-arounds so far for the new Ghost Heat II system and why couldn't PGI just let IS LPL stay at 11 damage? The Damage to Energy ratio didn't have to be a perfect 1:1!

Gauss is probably your best option to "circumvent" ghost heat 2.0, but really your better option is to just take dakka or brawly stuff.

The work around is to bring more lasers than you can fire. Bring 6 Large Lasers, fire 3 at a time wait for energy to recharge in 1.5 seconds and fire again.

So 30 tons of laser putting out 21 heat per salvo... you'll get maybe 4 shots out of it before you're hitting max heat. And every other salvo after that is going to be spaced at least 6 seconds apart to allow sufficient heat dissipation. That's assuming you have at least 10+10 DHS too... Not very practical.
Mainly because that requires a minimum 250 engine and another 10 tons for external DHS, so an absolute minimum tonnage of 22.5 (12.5 250XL + 10 DHS) plus 30 tons of laser, so 55.5 tons total. In turn that should require at least an 80t Mech to mount without compromising protection, and at least 6E hardpoints. So basically, you're saying the Battlemaster is about to become meta cheese.
