This has been a but of a problem in normal play, but now it seems all the more pertinent now that the energy bar has arrived, simply:
Would it be possible to modify chainfire in such a way that, as opposed to firing one weapon at a time, it could fire two or more out of a group and continue to cycle? Or even simpler, prevent firing a weapon until energy is available for it? I realize that any good macro program could handle the former, but it feels like it should be integrated into game, if nothing else the 'hold fire until energy available part'.
3rd party programs shouldn't have to be something necessary to deal with mechanics like this, and if some players feel they are necessary to get an edge or play at the top level of the game, then the mechanic should be reworked.
