Hi there,

simple suggestion:

Make Betty replaceable through different sound paks.

My knowledge of crysis engine is pretty slim, but it should be possible to load soundfiles outside a pak file. So inside the engine you simply disable the checksum checks for soundfiles or the list of betty sound files (whatever is easier).

This way anybody could share a zip of files to extract to the game directory including different sounds. Remember the startup computer on the Yen Lo Wang in the novels? You get the idea.

If this is not possible by engine limitations, how about different voices for different mechs? Inside the game it is easy to accomplish and only increases the amount of megs you have to download. Instead of having one set of files for the ui, just make subfolders for the chassis. You could also implement a routine checking: if file exists, load file from subfolder, otherwise fallback to default betty.

Thank you for evaluating.

Or, failing all that, just a selection of different voices. I work telecom and even the simplest voice mail systems come with different configurable accents and languages.....

It used to be easy. PGI made it much more difficult in the most recent patch.

It's unnecessary, adds nothing to the core game experience, and addresses no known problem.

In other words, PGI are probably working on it right now :(

I really like this idea. A french hotty would be a nice change, or maybe a really bitchy voice like my old girlfriend. :(

That would be cool. Also, if we could enable/disable warnings, like: I want to know when a certain section is crit, but i don't want to get the incoming missiles warning.

I would love the computer/announcer guy from Firefall as my mech computer voice.

Simply making betty's sound file as .mp3 or .wav will open up sound customization.
I foresee many GLaDOS and vocaloid fanmade sound pak if this feature is available.

That would be awesome if PGI would make it so that it could be community-driven. A folder with all of Betty's sound clips would be amazing.

Another idea is a drill masters voice. Like Miyoshi from the Karate Kid, got his name right? or some funny army guy.

I voted yes because my wife turned BB off because she wants a male voice :)

I would actually be willing to spend MC on this. If PGI put a sound sample so you could hear what it would sound like before you purchased. Per mech would even be acceptable if the cost was not high.

I would absolutely totally and utterly love a male voice telling me stuff instead of Betty. Right now i don't have the voice enabled.

For example I love that Titanfall has just added two new computer voices. This is an excellent precedent for the genre.

Yes, and as there is a revenue opportunity associated with this, hopefully PGI will notice this thread a decide to add/monetise this feature.

I've long suggested PGI could monetize BB. A Gunther "Deadeye" Herman BB, or a suave french lady BB, or an enthusiastic Australian BB, etc., would all sell like hotcakes. For that matter, a Duncan Fisher BB would be a real money maker.

I thought it was be really cool to have multiple Betty's that spoke in different accents from around the globe. Maybe make them purchasable with MC. Have the Betty's use words familiar in that culture, or synonyms of the current Betty. This would give the Betty's a sense of quality, & uniqueness.

What about faction Influenced BB's? Also I'm not sure I'd want Duncan Fisher in that role. I'd rather have him doing what he does best. This game is after all a giant arena and thanks to it having only pvp content I think it could be so much more.
