so ive been running a large number of 2 class autocannons to see how energy draw affects them. the new base cooldown ive computed to be about 0.83, since most of the 2 class doesnt have a cd module, this is going to be the number. the exception is the lb2, which has a cd module, and i calculate that cd to be 0.79. still slower than you would expect. does this signify the death of the 2 class? lets see.

my test beds are a mauler and a dire whale, im testing worst case boats, 6 guns. i have them grouped in 3s so i can do alternating firing patterns to keep my firing rate up. nothing boats like a dire. id love to load out a scat with 7 of the things, but i dont think that is possible. the mauler is just running an std250 engine and no backup weapons. the cac2/lb2 dires are running 6spl and 2 additional dhs. the ultra2 dire is running 10 ersls and 3 dhs, because the guns are smaller and i have enough slots.

the mauler ran first. i noticed the ac2s didnt even trip the energy draw system. the guns are quite usable with the ghost heat gone. they also dont trip the energy draw system at all.

the cac2 dire ran about the same. the 6 spls do trip the penalty system, and if you fire them you need to lay off the guns for a sec.

the lb2 dire did actually have some heat build up, but it took several salvos to manifest. not really enough to cause you to stop firing, but it will limit your abilities to sustain, but not significantly. under this system its still a great way to dakka.

now the ultra2 build ran hot. it took a couple shots before you started seeing heat. double tapping is slightly less tiresome with the slower cd. now this approaches closely what it feels like to run 2s (of any type) on the live account. its like the pre gh reduction days where they are toasty but usable. the 10 ersls, fired in groups of 5 for a 25 point alpha can put you down when used in conjunction with the gun. they are a great finishing weapon, but too hot if you want to sustain dakka.

so dakka is not dead. dispite being slower, they feel somewhat elevated relatively speaking. it certainly makes aiming harder for those ppc boats.

i wasnt about to let the fun stop there. i wanted to try some insane dire loadouts. i started with an lb60 build. dispite the 60 damage, the heat never exceeded 50%, and the energy bar completely recharges before you can fire again. same holds true for the cac60 dire. dispite not getting the 0.75x multiplier, heat only goes up to 50%. i got into brawls and they all were great.

uac60, which is just running 3x uac20s, since you have the slots in the st to do it. you cant put an lb20 or cac20 there, but you can stick a uac20 and cause general mayhem. i fully expect a doubletap to cause my immediate death (suicide condition), so im runing all 3 in chain fire and spam mouse 1. while this produced appropriate amounts of heat, what i didnt expect was only getting to about 60% heat single tapping all 3 uac20s. while i figured doubletapping would be suicide, i still managed to pull it off several times in a match. this is one of those should not happen things, thats effectively a 120 point alpha. but with the 4 round bursts, there is plenty of time to let the energy bar recharge and not trigger the suicide condition.

thats it for now, im running out of time and going to play with some ppc builds, if i run any other wierd ballistics configs i will update this post.

e:

a little ammendment to the tripple uac20 dire. i did not account for weapon lockout that happens when your bar is empty. if you double tap with 3 uac20s, you will be tossed into 100% territory, you still get your 120 point alpha and live (you have to shut down immediately), but its a lot like the beef's direstar video.
