Maybe we can add in some new weapons? Like Medium range missiles? dumb fire 50 rockets at somebody sounds fun?!
or maybe a plasma rifle that has more of a projectile arc? more interesting firing dynamic I think.
I mean this draw energy stuff is not exactly canon, so if we can think outside of the box here why can't we stop playing around with same weapons that's been out for years and add some new content? I think I have enough mechs, but I'd be willing to spend my MCs on some new GUNS!
I mean we've been balancing these same weapons since it came out in 2013, can we NOT spent all the energy and time on balancing these same guns for another 3 years (instead of coming out with some new content?)

You mix up "lore" with "rules".
In Battletech there are weapon systems that are described in the lore. Autocannons, laser, short range missile, and so on.
Energy draw is a rule which have nothing to do with the lore but how the game universe respond on certain actions. The effect can be different in MWO as in the Battletech tabletop. The former is an real time simulator and the latter a round based strategy game.
So, you cannot put latter into former without adapting rules.

There are also a lot of in lore weapons that can be added in the future, so no need at all to invent new ones.

sorry to break it to you. MRMs are canon

There are tons of Battletech weaponry post Clan Invasion that has never made it to video games. Seeing how video games typically evolve round the most iconic story arc
Also, a PPC IS a plasma cannon. just that it's not called as such. the Mechwarrior 2 interpretation of the PPC was a slow moving tracking projectile.
