I'm the opposite, I'd rather have an objective that requires more thought than "Hey everyone, let's NASCAR right instead of left this time!"

Me too but conquest isnt that LOL come on. Everyone knows you kill the enemy then cap out if you need to. The team that focuses kills will ALWAYS win on conquest. Just remove the stupid mode or make it better, because it sucks.
On a side note, give assault back their turret bases.

No thanks as a light pilot those were awful - auto hitting legs on lights from across half the map.... great idea there....

You'd need a mode that has meaningful objectives first.
All conquest does at the highest level is promote a moving nascar firing line to control a triangle on 3 bases until one side is force to commit,
And you will never see that in pugs. it's usually a handful of captards nascaring away on one team while the winning side deathballs the main opfor

War is not about killing for the sake of killing. There is always an objective in mind, and sometimes the objective is to stand on a piece of land and make sure the enemy doesn't take it.
If you think about it, Skirmish is pretty much just Conquest applied to the entire map. You have to keep enemies off the objective. In this case, instead of having 5 objectives, the whole map is the objective
