Well, besides many people stating that mwo is losing players left and right and dying, at least for this event weekend, this seems to me not to be the truth.
This also can be seeing as that with little incentive, many players still want to play MWO, even if it have so many flaws and things to be fixed/added.

Here a SS i took after my first match as a light, it was a realy bad match and i only did like 50dmg, so i went to the very botton of the light leaderboard, witch shows me that there is like 10k+ active players, i guess 10% of this can be 2nd accounts for a same player, so there is like 9k+ active players around.

Just like PC Gaming, MWO is dying since its launched. You'll always have people saying the end is nigh.

For a long time "players in 2 weeks" stats in Steam Spy is going steadily at around 30,000. Therefore I think the player population is relatively stable for now. People are playing less hours per day, but the amount of unique log-ins is staying the same.

It isn't in such dire straights like we've had in the past. I would say it's fairly healthy. Unit population and friendly units not having people on isn't an accurate sign about population. Friend list inactivity doesn't mean much.

The game dont have a population top support itself. So we have to remove game mode choice, we had to remove 3/3/3/3 we had to tweak tier valving we keep having to try and save the game with "bucket" tweaks rather than content.

The game won't die, but a lot of us are not buying another mech pack, a lot of us are playing less.

I'm like a battered wife when it comes to Mechwarrior games. I just wish PGI would stop beating me and become the prince I've seen out of my various black eyes all these years.

From a business point of view- if it is not growing then it is dying.

However we are not really privy to the correct metrics (sales) to determine the status of MWO.

That said, my educated guess is that MWO is not inches from death, but it is also unlikely to experience a lot of growth or progress.

This again?? Well over 15k people played this event.. I'd hardly call that dying.. (it's probably a good amount more than that, that was just how many people played assaults, and they are not the most popular class)

So if you log into MWO and:

Find no one on in your unit.

Your friends list has maybe 10 people online in a list of a few hundred.

Your Faction Team speak has 5 guys on it, 2 are afk and the other three are playing a different game.

Faction Play has one planet with people 7 attacking and 5 defending no running match.

You pick a mech click quick play to stare at the spinning connect wheel for minutes at a time.

Finally get a few matches and see almost the same people over and over and over. Picking the same map and mode over and over and over.

Log out and switch to another game.

Yup I say things are dieing.

What I have noticed is a lot less long time players being really negative on these forums and a lot of new accounts taking up the torch.

I'm sure some got perma banned for cheating while others got bored, but this new crew of entirely new players makes me wonder.

My bad, just not many posts from this account.

In this economy, I think some businesses would be happy to simply break even for the time being if the only other option was to be losing lots of cash.

They are scraping back MC, that's for sure. Decals are helping. Cache is also helping. They both need a bit of work.

More people are using new mechpacks right out of the gates now. I remember before it was a small club of players with the new mechs for quite a while.

All the changes for the game happen in small tiny amounts, so it seems like no progress. If they tied up a lot of the loose ends in regards to sideways development, they could earn some respect back from the community and then move on from their with confidence.

An absolute blitz on modes, secondary objectives and lore based missions etc will go even longer.

Give players a drop ship. Let us upgrade it, purchase and win staff for the ship. Upgrade your staff and send them on missions for consumables etc. Sort of like a Generic weapons cache. Similar to Knights of the Old Republic.

Is your unit called the White Knight Covenant by chance? Motto of there is glairing problems in the game keep calm and Helen Keller on?

My unit "The Remnant"of 40 members doesn't play anymore I've logged in to redeem my items, when I do my friends list of many has 2 online at most usually.

Many of us have said and seen this. Our units and friends have moved on.

My friends from MW3 dropped this game 4 years ago. I could have made a dying post then too. :)

Well it make sense that if most of the people are in other games you are left with a bigger pool of people who spend for packs. That does not mean more people are playing and paying.

But i fear not when it comes to cash for PGI. Round the clock population might amount to a low 45k which is enough to lunch a game in less than 3 minutes but isnt enough to support healthy game mechanics such as 3/3/3/3, tier separation, choice of game mode. They sold 25k marauder pack, less popular pack probably sell at between 15-20k, cash isnt a problem for pgi pockets but we dont really know what they use that cash for other than more mech pack and mech customisation. Every month theres a few lines of code worth of content, his month the new content will be seeing enemy facing direction when a uav is up and thats it. When they had a talk to "fix" CW they only tried to optimise buckets, its what they always have done, try to optimise the "buckets" and here we are...
