So what are people thoughts on the new Cyclops mech? Personally I'm quite enjoying it at the moment, maybe a bit underpowered compared to the mauler but that's nothing that makes it awful.

I only played with the -Q variant, but i'm happy so far. Max armor, STD350, lots of SRM4's, a pair of ML's, and a NARC for the rain.

Edit: and a new emote o)

XL friendly? Eh, not really, CT is pretty small as it is the front facing section of the nose down through the pelvis, as well as the whole area around the cockpit, ST's are what you expect plus a little bit on the nose like the archer. Which makes sense as the Cyclops torso is just the Archer's torso rotated. Pretty solid all around mech, about what I expected, seeing idiots out there with 1ML and 7LRM5's, lots of LRM assaults running around and it is pretty rough due to half of your team is worthless dead weight of LRM assaults derping LRM's into a wall.

I'm finding the Q varient my least favourite. I just cannot use that many missile hardpoints effectively.

People are mounting lurms on it so I really can't see it as a big threat ATM. I'm gonna wait until most buyers finish eliting it, and then form an opinion about the mech.

Every time I see one running LRMs it makes me cry.

I didn't get to play it much last night, and one of the matches was tainted by a 6 flamer Jenner who was friendly and heating me up while shooting an enemy line. It does seem XL friendly though, it seems reminiscent of the Quickdraw with regards to hitboxes. Didn't play all of them though since some of them are brawl oriented (like my 400 XL 6 SRM6 variant) so it makes solo queue a risky play.

I haven't run an XL on the cyclops but from my experience it isn't that XL friendly, despite how large the CT is. I often find myself losing a side torso but maybe someone else has different experiences with it.

It's an interesting tradeoff. You can pick 2 out of 3. Speed, lots of guns, or armor. Without using an XL that is anyways.

I only got the basic package, but I can see the hero being pretty good out of the bunch.

Sleipnir with XL380 with 2 UAC5s and 2 AC5s seems to be a nice BESM dakka platform.

I ran that on crimson last night pelting everything as I shadowed a stalker and an Atlas. It was pretty fun up until my ST exploded because I got too greedy :c.

I think the Cyclops will fit in as Average or slightly Above Average. It certainly doesnt seem bad per se. Didn't get a chance to try the SRM build.

I'm actually enjoying them more than I thought.
While the weapon and structure quirks are light, those agility buffs seem to help me feel like I'm running a big heavy instead of an assault, which I enjoy.

And though I'm only dabbling with builds, I do find they do reasonably well with XL engines. They're always risky items, so they're never genuinely safe for IS mechs, but in this case I feel like the chest really does spread damage quite well. So it's quite fun to take big XLs and maneuver a lot more effectively than other assaults.

On top of that, there are a few unique build options available to it that I have been quite enjoying. I am one of the few that is fairly fond of the Zeus, and the Cyclops seems to allow jacked versions of a few of my Zeus builds. The A for instance, can do 3xAC5, 3xML, 3xSRM6 with a STD 300. I find it can really be a threat, and not only at point blank (I hate hate hate point blank only builds).

All the Base package Variants seem underwhelming to me, however from watching people play the add with the ECM Variant and the Hero seem to be the 2 best of the bunch.. how surprising.
