so far in my limited use, seem spretty middle of the pack. Not terribly tough, but not terribly fragile. I survived all my matches so far, while packing an XL. But with only a handful of drops hard to say if I was spreading damage well, or simply facing people who can't hold their lightsabering still.

Offensively, can't say I'm in love with it, haven't really settled on a build though either. But it's definitely not an Insta Dog, or Champ. Once unlocked fully, with the right builds, at least some variants might be solid performers. I only have the basic pack, but I don't think any of them are terrible.
So, then it seems that PGI got it right? A new mech that is good, but not OP, shouldn't that be how every mech should be? :)

For anyone out there, how does this run?

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...65beb883e05949e

7 ASRM4s. I prefer the ASRM4 over a plain SRM6 because it deals more damage to the places I want it to with the shorter cooldown and much tighter spread pattern. also if energy draw comes out it won't be super heavily effected anymore than the normal firing it in two groups.

Do the arms shield decently well?
What's up with filling out the slots with .5t ammo? Someone told me that was bad for critting...

Also, I think I'd like your build modified like this, if for nothing else to be able to shoot UAVs.

Quite the opposite, its good for critting. Crits roll only for the filled slots and spread the damage between the options. By filling up all the slots damage spreads better internally reducing the chance that that ammo will go up and kill me.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but when I showed such a build someone said it wasn't good... time to change it back!

i just had a great first game with the 10-Q. 4 LRM10s, 3 SRM4s, 2 MLs, TAG, Beagle, 340XL with DHS, 14 pts short of max armor, 7.5 tons for the LRMs and 3 tons for the SRMs, AMS. 4 kill blows, 5 assists, 1 solo, 3 KMDD, over a thousand damage. I ran the adv sensor range and LRM10 cooldown and range modules. Had a slight "heat" issue and 14 free crits so went to Endo steel, 350XL with another DHS, switched the medium lasers for medium pulse, and removed a half ton of armor to increase the LRM ammo pack. I am getting sensor locks at 1350m, shooting at 1100 so I can hang in the back, provide locks for folks and dead fire the LRMs at enemies who are just standing and poking.

Unless you really really need that extra sensor range I'd swap out the BAP for more LRM ammo. 4xLRM10 is a lot--I'd think 10 tons ammo is the bare minimum. BAP doesn't do anything for lock time, so all it's giving you is increased sensor range. I'd take ammo over that.

From limited testing i can say that the Sleipnir performs well with 2xUAC5, 2xAC5, 9 tons of ammo (runs out of crits at that point, stupid hand actuators) and an XL375. With the agility quirks it handles very nicely, and its decent levels of dakka. Id imagine it would work pretty nicely as a Mauler clone with 4xUAC5 STD300 as well, since the agility quirks will make it seem like a ballerina in comparison..

Havent really tried the others yet

I dont use LRMs anymore, but BAP does more than that - it prevents anyone with an ECM shutting down your ability to fire simply by standing near you.

The more I play it the more I like it. Better hitboxes than the Mauler and can run XL engine fairly well. That being said, my favorite build is quad lb10X Sleipnir. Basically the same as the Mauler build except the shot grouping is better.

The sensors don't do much. I experimented running command console, bap, and advanced sensor range module and I barely noticed any difference.

That may have been a bigger issue when ECM had 240m range. If an ECM light is parked within 90m of you I think that the inability to fire LRMs is the least of your worries.

What is so wrong if the Z uses AC20s?

We now have over 300 variants in this game. If 0.3% of those are made for AC20s....thats actually a good thing! Distinction!

. You misunderstand. Go ahead and run ac20. I feel the the quirk should be more broad. I am actually more an lbx fan. You make it only ac20 then then the z is all ac20.
