So the scenario is here, we are now looking at a likely 3 way tie in which teams are 1-1 against each other.

We are done with the regional qualifiers, we need a ruling we need to know how this is going to work and what is going to happen. ONLY fair way I see is a 3 team round robin on one set day.

And what's the tiebreaker if that's a tie.

Maybe just tie em all together and then run away and hide before they can find you!

For realsies though, this needs attention, and not just a casual nod that doesn't solve the issue.

I think all 3 teams should be included, if standings end as is, since PGI didn't make any rules on how to address it. Flip a coin to figure out who gets which seed (4, 5, 6).

I would be fine with anything that is inclusive. 5 is a awkward double elim bracket anyway.

If they dont want to do that then I would recommend a 3 team round robin where the tie breaker is SCORE = Kill - Death within that round robin.

If they do that, they should borrow from MRBC and say that a cap win counts as 8 kills.

They should just do top 8 teams it makes a far more simple double elim

We will not be using an in-game scoring method to determine a tie in the event of Head-To-Head producing a 3-way tie. It will come down to a 3 team round robin played in a single day that will determine how the results will order in the overall standings.

We will meet with the team captains of all teams involved to determine a best day/time scenario that fits both the player's needs and our broadcasting needs as well.

Thank you, what will be the result if the round robin results in another 1-1 scenario? I recommended a score system ONLY in that case and ONLY for that mini round robin.

While a statistical extreme.. in that event we'll go to headbutts.. last man standing.

Seriously.. when we talk with the team captains.. we'll try to be as accommodating as possible to a valid outcome. Our goal here isn't to stomp on players participating.. but to get games played so we can move into the semis.

I agree with all of that, having a tie rule is for that exact purpose. If the 3 way tie comes to pass all possible senarios should certainly be agreed to in advance.

It isnt as unlikely as you may think D5 is a up and coming team and 228 + Storm Jags have been exchanging punches for some time.

Are we not able to expand the #of regional teams due to budgetary/prize limitations?

I'm looking at the potential outcomes of the final 5 in North America. There's potentially (probably) a 3-way tie for 4th/5th/6th.

Storm beat 228.
D5 beat Storm
228 beat D5

... Sig beat D5.

If SiG withdraws from the tournament, they can bump D5 into 4th place and make a 2-way tie for 5th, which would give the nod to Storm, since Storm beat 228.
If SiG does not withdraw, then you've got your 3-team round-robin.

Seems like SiG has the power to choose who moves on and who doesn't. When there's money on the line, that doesn't seem like an ethical decision that should be left to a competitor...

SiG finished all their matches. The 3-way-tie was confirmed. The three teams in question played Monday and Tuesday to determine who would move on.

That would be nice if the web page reflected that info. (in either case, I don't think there's a rule against withdrawing after you've finished your matches.) The standing's page still shows 228 with one game left to play.

The rest of us are curious... Who moves on?

That last match for 228 is done.

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__5406789

It was forfeited in favor of 228.

As for the three way tie:

- 228 defeated D5 on Monday.
- Storm Jaguars defeated D5 on Tuesday.

D5 placed 6th. 228, 5th and Storm Jaguars 4th (due to the head-to-head ruling).
