MW4?! The scurge of MW games?! I would rather not even remember that pile of crap let alone play it again with a new skin.

Well that "Scourge" has the weapons cooldown/Recycle time we really need to get rid of Ghost heat.

There's a lot of stuff I like about those stats.
  • Gauss Rifle 8 second cooldown. This is perfect for a dedicated sniper weapon, makes it less effective for brawling.
  • AC10 causes 0.6 heat, ER Laser causes 8 heat. This is good for weapon synergy, combining different weapon types.
  • I actually don't feel like pulse lasers in MWO are balanced the way they should be. They're too similar to regular lasers. So I prefer the MW4 Pulse lasers, with nearly half the damage and half the cooldown.
  • IIRC, getting target locks in MW4 was a lot harder than MWO, which is great for balancing LRMs and SSRMs.

Target locks was far and away easier in MW4. LRMs locked slightly faster and fired in strict groupings of 5, but SSRMs were lock-less point and clicks that hit whichever section your crosshair was on and fired in streams, as did SRMs.

What I did like about MW4 was the stream fire of SSRMs, not so much the SRMs... But it did make their use interesting. And if you wanted Artemis you just grabbed a missile rack with it already attached and slapped it on assuming you had the extra tonnage and additional slot requirement open--No silly, repeated and expensive cash sink of switching between computer equipment which does nothing for the new guys but discourage experimentation.

I think MW4 got a lot right. Even though I can't get my mouse working with it, I still play through it once a year. If anyone knows how to get that stupid mouse to work correctly with Windows 10 I'd seriously appreciate it.

If i remember correctly, turning off "Antialiasing - Transparency" in Nvidia's Control Panel-> 3D Settings Management, either globally or program-specific if you hunt down the MW4.exe has a tendency of fixing the invisible/spotty cursor issue in older MechWarrior and Mech Commander games.

MW4:Mercs had ER Pulse Lasers--which technically never went into mass production. I suppose they didn't care that much about lore. :P
