Visit metamechs.com and pick your mechs only out of tier 1. Use the cutting edge meta clan mechs, I suggest either Kodiak or Timber Wolf. Other mechs like eborn jag are fine too. DO NOT touch the dire.

Then configure your mech to only the meta builds listed there. As far as possible, use the first and most recommended build, even though it'll be totally against your playstyle. Laser vom it. If it has gauss, don't touch it till you get better.

Then keep playing. Other things like tactics, you'll slowly learn the rest. Focus first on not dying before anything. If getting a kill will risk your death, pull out immediately.

Also, halve or quarter your mouse sensitivity. Keep lowering it after every game, till you feel your peformance suffer, that is slightly past the sweet spot. You'll want pinpoint, not speed, in this game.

Everything else will come naturally, then you can work your way down slowly to tier 1 IS mechs, all the way down to other more specialised or esoteric mechs. You need to start from an easy level to get ahead.

100 dmg ist beyond abysmal.

You are doing something completly wrong.

100 dmg means you survive long enough for like 3 alphas. It means you just die right away or die later without having dmged anything whatsoever.

Most likely u just walk right up to the enmy, stare them down, fire once or twice and get instakilled.

That is the only plausible explanation how such low dmg is even possible.

Thats not the way u play this game successfully. The way u play u are just cannonfodder and fill the kills, dmg and over all stat of other players.

Watch youtube videos of normal or good players. There is a number of channels with players uploading regularly. Watch games of the championship.

And dood. Cataphracts suck.

They suck hard.

With xl they literally melt instantly to the mechs that are pirmarily running around now.

Mist lynx....raven. Dood. Really good traders/pilots can survive long and dish out a lot of dmg in those mechs.

For you they are the complete wrong choice. Dunno who advised you to take them but in your case that is simply the wrong choice.

But im just wondering what would be the right choice. I mean....just playing raven/lynx should have long, long, super long ago taught you to find good positions, trade well, not die, reposition, hit and run or trade again and then easily without so much as a mild sweat reach 400 - 600 dmg.

Dunno who gave u advise in the forums. But your best strat is to completly stop listening to each and every one of those so called advisers. They are not gving you any good advise.

Check popular/easy builds and stronger mechs on those channels. Critical rockets channels or Majestros channel or somethingsimilar. Whatch those vids, check out their builds and you should easily get 5 + as much dmg and go up tiers in days or weeks.

Dunno what else to say.

Or maybe u havent really understood the basic features like heat/weapons/XL engines or you simply facetank everything and never really trade.

If you stand still and look at mechs you will die.

Would be good if you could upload a few of your games. Like 10 or so. Or just 3 even.

Then I can tell you exactly what to change.

Also game and peripheral settings. I've seen a number of struggling players improve immensely just by configuring their mouse reasonably.

Note there's no judgment here, just there are tons of little things that can be done, many of which some players simply don't know about.

This, basically.

What is the quality of your computer?

What are your graphics settings?

What are you mouse settings?

What mechs do you own?

Matt,

Please display your tier.

Based on FaliingAce's screen shot above, I can honestly say you are 3x better stats-wise than I am at this game and I am T3. There is no way you got a .87 W/L rate and a near 50 percent kill ratio doing 100 points of damage per match or as you insist above, only 20 points and dying right away.

So either your post is BS or something is seriously wrong with the PSR tracker. I can't speak to the later, but you displaying your tier would dispel the former (assuming you really are T5).

The mention of having 5 mechs locked at one point makes me think that possibly you are "pushing" too much and either becoming overextended or left without cover and becoming a focus for your opposing teams coordinated fire.

Think a bit about longevity, use cover. Pop up front, take a couple shots, drop back, assess your personal situation and how you are in relation to your team.

Run out and fight alone usually leads to die fast and alone.

If you get smashed, at your point in the game, you should watch the round to completion through the other mechs. Pick out a player name you recognize and follow their game. See from this point of view if you can pick up what works for the guys that survive until late in the round or win.

I followed an early rule of trying to do 100 points per weight class per round minimum.
Light 100
Medium 200
And so on...

Keep trying

First of all go into settings and check hide tier , don't even look at it. Chasing tiers is not helping you. Second search YouTube and twitch for mwo videos and learn from good players. Third stick with your team don't Rambo. Fourth don't group drop for a while, you are most likely going up against top tier players because matchmaker don't give a ****. Fifth, continue watching videos and twitch streams of good players, pay attention to their tactics think about them going into each match. Finally look at what affects psr http://mwomercs.com/...-as-best-i-can/

Honestly I stopped playing before tiers came into the game, and came back like in March all the way at the bottom of tier 5. It was a grind moving up, especially only running lights while trying to relearn the game. But I did all that I've mentioned above and I progressed. The most important thing though was turning off the stupid tier bar and ignoring it. I focused on damage, scouting, lance formation, team play and lastly kills. The game was more enjoyable and my green arrows started showing up after more nmatches than not.

Edit: I should also mention, because I see an unbelievable amount of players not do this, lock your targets. This is not about helping out your lim teammates. You need to learn to focus on damaged areas for quicker more efficient kills.

after playing a number of games, you probably recognize some of the names that you keep seeing in game.
Try to remember the names of people who do well.

When you see those players on your team - follow them. Stay behind them. Try to assist that player.

At the moment you could be stuck in Tier 5 because reportedly very good players are creating smurf accounts so they can farm high scores in Tier 5 and win the Challenge.

Sad, I know.

If this is true, PGI need to identify these players and ban every account they have, although this kind of scummy behavior doesn't surprise me as exploiting and cheating seems to be considered being competitive by some.
It's also why E-sports in this game would be nothing more than a joke filled with desperate vile scrubs.

I know you said you've had help on mech builds, but since you said you had a HBR I will add this:

HBR-PRIME

6x cERML
ECM
29 total DHS

Your goal should be small and simple, land 10 full hits a game, that's all. 10 full duration alphas with cERMLs adds up to about 11.5 seconds of fire time (we will round that up to 12 for simplicity). If you can find 12 seconds out of a 10 minute battle to fire at (and hit) the enemy without dying, you will average over 400 damage a game.

That's it, just 12 short seconds, you will have good mobility and ECM, so finding those 12 seconds shouldn't be too hard, but remember to be patient, you have the whole battle to find those 12 seconds.

when you play domination go into the circle. When you play conquest, cap the resources. When you play assault be mindful of the bases. Low tiers and way to many high tiers, seem to forget this.

Kills / Death
585 / 2,597 Wins / Losses 1,379 / 1,821 Kill / Death Ratio 0.23

I suspect the death ratios are so bad that there is no fixing things.

Survival time and damage varies with the day. Some days I do better solo pug and other days it's better with the Unit. Yesterday was 30 plus deaths in a row over the afternoon in solo and about 50/50 survival in the evening with the Unit but damage output remained low.

My most common played mechs

nova Prime - 2 ERmed,10 SPL short range brawler, bodyguard

Hellbringer - AC10, AC5, 3 ER med brawler, bodyguard

Blackjack 2 ac5, 6 med laser

mist lynx 3 er med 2 srm 4

ebon jaguar 3 uac 5, 3 er laser

raven 2 er large - stay back at range for sniping

stormcrow with 5 streak srm or just regular srms
stormcrow ac 10,, 6 er med

Are any of those mastered?

Do you use modules to increase situational awareness or otherwise help yourself?

Lynxs and Crows are mastered.

Modules tend to be arty or air strikes, cool downs , and range increases

1) There is no such thing as a bodyguard.
2) Don't play short ranged bralwers alone in the solo queue.
3) Are these all of your mechs?

If you don't answer questions, we can't help you.

So I'll repeat my questions from before, but not again after this.

What are your graphics settings?

What mechs do you own?

You're not stuck in T5 asking for help to get out, dealing less than 100 damage per match.

Nova 6 med + 6 sml or 2 LL + 6 sml, later no ghost heat.

HBR, ditch AC5, UAC10 to torso + 4-5 meds.

Ebon 2 * UAC10 + 4 sml. 2 * LL for torso + 4 med or mpulse for arms.

SCR might try mix: 2 * streak6 + 2 * srm6 + 4* med or sml. Odd ball, but might work.

Seismic + Radar deprivation for master slot, if and when you get more boats to master.

I thought the same thing. I stink at this game, and it puts me in tier 3 and I'm still climbing. If he wants virtual accolades I'd swap with him in an instant.
