Alright, this is going to be a bit long winded so I apologize in advance. First some clarification on the title. Basically I'm wondering how everyone feels about the current quick play and faction join game system. I've seen complaints on the boards in various areas and topics in regards to join time, map selection, game mode selection, team selection and set up. I've listened to players in game talk about how they haven't gotten a good game in a while, or that every time they join they have the wrong Mech for the map. I've seen matches where an entire team is wiped out but because they completed the game mode objectives just barely they win. I've seen shutout matches from both sides. I would like to possibly see some Dev feedback on this discussion being that in the end it is their choice on any changes made to the game. Also being that I don't know how difficult or how much time it would take for any suggested idea to be completed by them. Time is money, the Devs know more about their coding abilities and the coding involved in making changes to their program.
So to start off, I do enjoy this game a great deal, seriously who doesn't like the idea of running around in massive war machine and blowing **** up. As it sits right now from reading and hearing what a majority of players are saying. There is room for improvement, ideas are wonderful, but they may not be the best course of action for this game.
With all that said I would like to see quick play changed more into a client server join list. Again would need Devs to weigh in on this. But it would be much like several other FPSs that are out on the market for quick play. You have a server list that shows how many are currently playing on server current map, up coming map, or possible map list with mouse over. Current Game mode, up coming game mode, or possible list of game modes. This would be a player side investment into the game being that running of the servers would fall onto the players and not the dev team. You would end up with empty servers just like in all other FPS games but players would be able to choose the size of teams that would play against each other. 4v4, 8v8, 12v12, 24v24 etc. You would also end up with a lot of uneven matches or matches that are not fully populated like 1v1 or 3v2 etc. This set up would allow for private matches and competition on a whole new level. Players would have to build drop ship packs etc. Which could be limited to Tonnage, or number of mech bays in said drop ship. Different drop ships could be purchased to allow players to have more options when playing on these servers and they can change their mechs around. you would also have players that could just join a server and spectate for a while to see which team they wish to join, learn possible setups for their mechs, or scout players for their units. Granted for quick play I don't think that C-bills or GXP should be awarded, if it is awarded it should be very small amounts. XP should be rewarded no matter what type of game play you are playing. You are using the mech so you should get experience for that mech.
As for Faction play, currently its awsome it should be hosted by the devs like it is right now. Faction play should be the only form of game play that should award GXP. It should also award large amounts of C-bills. I think that there should be some risk involved in faction play, loss of mech or components, salvaging of mechs or components etc. I've read many players ideals on this and I would like to see them expand their discussion about risk vs reward in faction play. Also in order to get Mech chasis available for purchase with C-bills you would have to get involved in faction play and take planets which would give bonuses towards various things. What those are, is up for discussion.
The last mode of game play that I've seen growing discussion on has been Player vs Environment or Single Player mode. I would love to see this grow with missions available to players both Generic and Faction play Driven. For example Generic could be tutorial missions, or past combat missions (simulations of battles that took place before the current era, such as battles in the succession war, or various trials for clans). These missions could have various rewards, ie. components, mechs, modules, C-bills etc. That players can use to improve upon their game play. I would like to see the ability for players to record these engagements and share them with friends. But with third party game play recorders available that should be much of an issue. There could also be CO-OP play available for up to what ever the simulation team size happens to be. This way you and a group of up to say 12 friends could play on an instance game and battle up to say a battalion of NPC Mechs.
