They don't have to do all that much restructuring, really. They got maps, they got factions, they got a game engine. All they have to do is to put a tiny bit of effort into it.

Consider this: instead of voting, hostilities need to be declared. If the FWL declares that it will consider a Steiner border-rock FWL territory - exactly which rock may be determined by algoritm or strategic choice by High Command. Steiner has two choices - they can defend it, or they can let the FWL have it. In the latter case, chalk it up to diplomacy or incompetence, and FWL up in territory. In the former case, however, we have ourselves a campaign.

First the scout-lances need to go in, to gather intel - much like today, only with actual objectives and without the ultimate LT-reward.
Along with the scouts comes the strikeforce, in the form of company-sized skirmishes to secure important territory and landing zones in the form of (tweaked) QP-maps.
After landing zones are secured, the batallion-sized force comes in to secure dominance - as in Invasion-play.
Add an R&R-budget, themed maps, conditions and rewards, retouched Invasion-maps, a stock/tier-mode, a time scale that allows this to engage across all players' timezones, and I dare say we're golden.

Anyway, that's my FW-pipedream. Feel free to discuss, improve or rip a me a new one.

The implementation of of the Long Tom is akin to what one would find in MMO raid boss mechanics and has no place in even a minimally tactical shooter game. The conditions under which it fires are without any intelligence, strategic timing, or restraint. As it currently stands long tom is more of an obstruction that must be avoided or gamed on cyclic timer. Not something I have any interest in doing.
I think LT would be a great addition if it were under human control. Change that, and FW will be a little bit better of a place. Just my thoughts. I represent myself. Story over.
