I dont get it... since ive been playing my psr bar hasnt moved a smudge! only 2mm!!! Ive tried everything that i could learn about getting a better score but the only thing im good at is dying! Why does this system seem broken? Feels like being in tier 5 is a hell hole i cannot get out. Somewhere along the line i feel like this PSR is full of crap and it feels like there are higher tier players in 5. Every single mode i played so far is with failure. I searched and searched trying to understand all this PSR crap and yet i cannot manage a decent score that would lower my PSR... I Battletech but i feel that this game isnt for me...

Play Quick Play mode, use a high damage over time Mech (Lasers vomit, cUAC/5 vomit or LRM vomit) then just farm damage. As you farm damage, your required match score to go up, will go up, even on a loss.

But keep in mind, when you increase your PSR rank, you're just going to fight stronger opposing players. Perhaps a better approach is not worrying about your PSR rank (it doesn't really matter after all) and instead focus on getting better.

Ive tried the laser vomit, target after target, every opportunity just to nail damage on every target i click, and yet i see no changes. Feels like i have to kill 12 mechs each time just to see some sort of change but i doubt i'll see that happen. My K/D isnt pretty either with only 51/52. Posted Image For the most part i try to have fun playing.

And i have, ive read it and tried to understand most of it. Trying to get better is what im really trying to do but failure seems to be my companion.

As Winter said, play for fun. PSR actually doesn't mean jack. Me, I'm T4 and punished because I use efficient killing builds that with how PSR works, means I can kill 1/3rd of the enemy team by myself on a loss, yet still lose PSR....

Found your problem, OP. Blame yourself, not the system.

So you use kill efficient build but still stuck at T4 in an upwards biased PSR system? That requires tons of losing over winning.

I guess both you and OP needs to:

Actually you need to play the game in the first place. Can't find you anywhere in the last two leaderboards, except one lost match in FW.

Ok... so ive followed some of your guys advise... im in tier 4 now... this is really strange, ive completed 4 straight wins, wasnt focusing on trying to get a kill but every target ive hit and on to the next one. Scoring wasnt high but still troubled at understanding how this is calculated... well i better take it for what it is and continue to learn as i play. Thanks all.

Focus firing on a single mech and taking it down ASAP is more important than spreading damage onto multiple mechs. Superior numbers easily snowballs in MWO.

Just keep playing and learning. When you die, spectate different players but stay on ones who are playing well. Watch what they do. Heck, watch YouTube videos of elite players. I've been playing 4+ years with 16k drops and I'm still learning.

You ignored the best advice... forget about your PSR and just play. You'll end up exactly where you belong.

I'd to play about 838 matches to git gud ...dug my way out of the bottomless pit that is T5.

So don't worry Chancellor Elias & Metus, ...take your time but try to have fun and enjoyment in the meantime while both of you learn.
