As we say down south......
If PGI had a "lick o sense" they would ask the community to design it for them.
I would.

This. Every match played, including quickplay, should be faction matches and influence the IS map.

That is the only way to save faction play.

Why do people care so much about influencing the map? Why should I have to break contract just so I can play a Clan mech once in a while? What about all the people who picked southern houses for the reason they didn't want to deal with Clans?

The majority of players don't seem to like FP, so the solution isn't to make FP fun, but just to put everything under the umbrella of FP? That's not really saving it. More like ruining QP.

Oh, it had quite a bit of importance in MPBT3025, where all the mechs you had grinded for were locked with a faction. I mean, those were only pixels, but they were your pixels, damn it. And I think that's what quite a few people thought of when CW was first pitched to the community.

In a game, where you can change factions willy nilly, it doesn't mean a thing. But yes, by now FP is mostly a demonstration of the sunk cost fallacy.

I don't understand something.

I made a very similar thread 5 hours before this one and another one like this thread, but it has zero replies.

Am I on everybody's ignore list?

Anywho, this is the thread:

brevity. you expect the add generation to read a long opening post? even the opening post in this thread was a little long, but at least it was organized into a bunch of 3 line paragraphs and they all fit on the screen (yours required scrolling). im guilty of this too, often brilliant ideas of mine get ignored because i couldn't trim the fat.

I totally agree, and that's what I thought CW was going to be like as well. But it isn't, at all. Instead it's just grinding out reputation, like in Warcraft. It's not immersive in the least, and I don't understand why people want to force it on everyone.

PGI sees how dead the mode is, and have chosen to do absolutely nothing to address it. In fact, they figure it's a finished feature with no plans for any new major features. I can only wonder how it could have been if they gave the players what they wanted. :(

No, no. PGI recognized that CW is in trouble. Yes, siree. They even held a round table out of their deep respect for the community and its ability to provide constructive solutions to help solve the problems that CW suffers from. Consolidate the buckets? That was just one idea! There was so much great stuff that Russ said, they even have an employee consolidating all the great ideas that were put forth by the community and that they will, at any moment now, be putting forth a summary of how best to proceed to breathe life back into the mode. That's right: Salvation is nigh! They've been working on that summary for a month now, so you know it is top priority and will have real content and solutions! Yep. Any moment now PGI will fix everything. Any moment.

Or not.

The problem with faction play is just about everything with faction play. They didn't force players to chose a faction. Maps are static and boring. There is real reason to take territory. You can't even chose which territory you want to invade.
