One of the biggest gripes with ED is how complex the system appears, since the game itself does little aside from showing the combined draw of every equipped weapon. What needs to be done is allow the weapon groups tab to display the combined draw and heat produced by firing each group. This provides more incentive to use the tab in the first place, instead of setting the groups mid-match, and allows new players, or those unfamiliar with ED, to create efficient firing groups without having to calculate everything themselves and do extensive testing.
If this kind of change was implemented, do you feel it would eliminate some, if not all of the complexity of energy draw?

Yes,
This could be shown on the Weapon Group screen - have the draw shown per weapon to the right of the groups, just before the name of the weapon, and the total per-group weapon draw on the bottom underneath the chart.

Some marking for penalized groups on in-game weapon groups screen would be nice too.

I am curious what Front-End UI elements that they're working on to facilitate Energy Draw. I notice lots of people gripe about the purported complexity of the system, but there's also next to none of the UI work done. We received one iteration on the PTS very quickly after the first (less than 5 total days of testing from PTS to PTS), and now we've already waited a week before further iteration.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're completing more of the UI work before moving forward; and I can only hope that something like this makes it into the Front-End UI.
I'd say that'd be a great way to do it. Simple and effective. Leave the "Alpha ED" on the main Mech Lab stats and then show the per-group draw on the grouping page.

It might already be enough to have Draw values on the weapons in the mechlab.
Maybe as next step adding the sum per group in the Mechlab's Group-fire screen, should be easier than to re-calculate this on the fly in the ingame weapon screen.
