Notice the lack of armor in your arms? This is a common and effective build strategy on mechs which can concentrate their payload in their torso. Why waste weight on a useless limb when you can instead have a bigger engine, or more firepower or other useful equipment.
However, on some mechs keeping your arms loaded up with armor (even if they contain little to no weaponry) can be a viable option for shielding purposes (see: The Atlas).
Also, on the ER-LL version, note the very very minimal rear armor. Very common on a dedicated long range mech. If you play a long range mech correctly (which can strongly depend on what map you are on and what your team is doing) then the odds of you getting shot from the rear should be rather low. So why waste a lot of weight on armor in a place you wont get shot?
