Assaults are still viable and effective as a class, the issue is just that the loadout variety is reduced because certain weapons benefit more from Ghost Power than others.
Giving assaults the highest power limit will just make them superior to everything.
The issue is with the specific power values per weapon, or even just the whole power system itself.

assaults HAVE to be superior to everything at firepower, because they are the slowest and most easy to hit targets with the highest opportunity cost. Why run them, if they cannot categorically outshoot what they are up against? They are an easier kill due to manoeuvrability and hitbox size outweighing the armour/structure they get compared to heavies, and cost more to take in dropdecks/group queue.

You mean assaults are superior in speed, turning and hitboxes too? No wonder the assault queue is 40%!!! /s
Anyone piloting an assault that is not the KDK will know that it actually takes skill and thought to pilot one, as compared to mediums and heavies. Seems like putting thought into positioning and skill is something PGI is desperately trying to quash with its LRM-friendly maps, and nub friendly ED system,
Its pathetic how they keep trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, when we all know nubs will still be crushed easily, albeit a bit slower, and much more annoyingly.
Oh well, if PGI wants to kill assaults to appease nubs, then so be it.
