Sniper styles won't suffer from this as much as the others as long as they move with their team and not completely leave it. Orbiting the team at about 100m is usually sufficient for proper firing lines and cover or around there. Just don't linger too long. Again though, Shadow Cat... so I may very well be one of those potatoes from time to time.

Its a tough skill to master, being a light pilot. As well as a sniper build.
Knowing when to fall back to fight again later, and trying to trade with enemy mechs when they're bearing down on your team.
There are times when I feel I'm not contributing as much as say the heavier mediums or the heavies. But my role is different. That must be remembered.
Shoot when you can, and move.

Always be on the move.

But yes, to affirm your tactic, be a satellite of your team. Don't run out over commit or outrun your support.

That's a sniper rule many don't understand... shoot twice...then displace to a new shooting spot.

Indeed. Discretion as well. While on Mining Collective Conquest, we had more points and capture locations, but we had only two Alpha lancers left versus most of their Charlie lance. I didn't think we could win, given the tonnage still in play. But our light mechs used an impressive combination of restraint, choosing to ignore or hide instead of trying to duel an assault in a high risk engagement, and sniping, to bait them away from capture points (or kill them outright). Rare do I see pilots making good calls to not fire if it's a better tactic to go unnoticed while the opfor wastes time tracking them down (along with the occasional poke to seed confusion).

As a Timberwolf player, it pains me to see one go down, but excellent use of tactics in the video.

A Light does not have to stand still to share armor with his mates.

Right, just drawing fire (or attention) is good too, especially if you force a 180 degree turn by a one or more members of the opfor.

Thanks for all this talk about tiers, I just figured out what they are. I've only been playing for a few months and am really enjoying this game. No game is perfect and the teamwork on this game are pretty good compared to what ive experienced console gaming. I've been playing a shadowcat sniper pretty much non stop for months. Shooting and Moving is what I have been adding to the game. I laugh my butt off when I get four+ enemy mechs turning their backs to the main assault to stare at the spot I just shot from and wont be shooting from again.

That is funny, because If you dropped against my team, I make it very clear in chat that we are being snipped from "where ever" in chat, and then I proceed to hunt you down. If a team mate is able, I try to ensure that one mech follows me to find you, a team must kill pilots that try and flank and snipe, provide line of site. IF my team is responsive, you will be shut down, if not, I will solo kill you. I have faced to many shadow cat pilots, and the tactics used with the mech is very easy to counter.

A 3 month necro? Well, at least you're the OP, but I don't get the point in replying to someone that late.

Not being able to tell if someone is being sarcastic or not really sucks.
