Right... I am a little confused as to what is happening to my 'camo' (yes I am Jade Falcon, yes, that is the doggies camo, yes I am/would like to be a RP troll in that regard... Posted Image)

This is in the mechlab...

This is in alpine peaks...

And then this happens when in Frozen City... testing grounds or live...

No changes to the mech or colours.. is this a known 'issue' or is there something I am not aware of?

Looks like the Clan Wolf skin, that when using the correct colours can give a metallic / iridescent look to the Mech. Meaning it can change colours depending on the lighting and camera position.

Its called Ambient lighting.

The variance from map to map used to be alot worse.

It mostly affects the specular light (shiny/cubemap) texture layer on mechs.

OK

Thanks for the answers. I'll just think of it as a colour changing paint job from now on Posted Image.

I wondered why my JF spec turned blue as well... now I know.

Cheers,

RD

Yeah. As people said above, different maps have different lighting. The sunlight isn't just "white", it varies from map to map. It used to be substantially different; particularly maps like the old Caustic would make all mechs, even up close in the light, look monochromatic, just shades of brown.

Now, colors are mostly consistent, but shiny layers tend to reflect weirdly on some maps.

Some mechs take on a different color sheen to them when they take on certain colors.
1 example I can think of is the marauder that had a green sheen when painted black on the collectors edition. I've heard of gold sheen on a couple others but I can't recall offhand

I like that about the Clan camo, namely the CW one. It looks wicked cool if you put all 3 spots to black. Kinda goldish glow to the mech.
