Does anyone have any special tips to get this counter-ECM reward? I've been chasing it for 8 hours now and only got 6 out of 11 so far. I fear this event will end before I get it.

I don't know if I'm doing it right. Do friendlies need to be firing LRMs or other weapons at the enemy I am countering for it to trigger the reward?

I've gone as far as just leaving it on counter and trying to go near enemy mechs as much as possible, looking for the ones who has ECM. I guess everyone else keeps it in counter too so I can't get the reward.

Maybe some suicide tactic might work? Just running a light 150 km/h right into enemy cluster with counter mode on?

Are you sure? The challenge specifically mentions that we should use ECM to counter other ECM: "In a match at least once, Use ECM (Counter Mode) to counter the ECM of an enemy 'Mech."

You take a mech with ECM, then switch modes (J key I believe) on it, to become ECCM (Electronic Counter, Counter Measures), then you go find another mech running ECM, and let ECCM do it's magic.


EDIT:

For best results, take a fast mech that mounts ECM, such as a Pirate's Bane, Arctic Cheetah or Raven 3L.

I got all mine using an Active Probe... the EOM reward screen lists AP, ECCM & UAV under the same heading.

I got mine using UAVs and running ECM mechs WITHOUT toggling to Counter. Somewhere in that combination, you'll get your points.


...Maybe if you get countered it counts as you countering? I don't know.

I got the reward without playing a single ECM mech. I had BAP and UAVs though.

UAVs alone have to count then, since i never run BAP or CAP on anything.

I got to 7 in a Stalker 5M. Thought maybe it was the nifty paint job.

Any Active Probe or UAV will do as well, but an ECM equiped mech must run into the detection area with its ECM active, and be targeted and damage to get the Counter ECM award.

Given I've not been piloting an ecm mech I'm guessing it's the BAP that's been getting me this challenge. Although I do drop a uav on a regular basis.

Yeah, they really badly explained a bunch of these. I wish they would have just put the score line needed in parentheses at the end (I wasted a fair amount of effort before I realized I needed TAG Kill and that it requires locking missiles to land the decisive blow).

Looks bad. 9 out of 11, time running out. I'm now focusing on this one, popping UAV every match and keeping my ECM at counter. Still not getting any points.

This is not working. There must be additional hidden requirements such as the enemy must be killed while you counter it?

Edit: This is useless.. all the lights are in counter mode. I'm doing suicide missions now, 20 minutes left.

Edit 2: I managed to get counter ECM on a suicide mission, but it's not showing up in the counter. I saw it as a text. Do I need to stick until end of the round to get the reward? I left in middle to do another suicide mission, after I died.

Edit 3: Suicide tactic worked. 11 of 11 at 4 minutes remaning of the event. I hope I don't get too many reports due to me running straight into enemy and dying within a minute or two of each match.

Same here. Ran with BAP, and I pop UAV's regularily. I know the text implies different, but you can counter ECM in otherways that satisfies the mechanic.

I wonder if PPC'ing an ECM target counts too...
