Just curious, supposed that the Clan Omnimech system doesn't have fixed equipment, but fixed armor value? What if omnipods offer less armor than others instead? How would Clan-tech look like, feel like?

Perhaps knowing what were the weapons and hard-points, allow players to pin-point specifically weak or stronger point of the mech?

What if Clan/IS hybrid like Highlander, Hunchback, Jenner, and Orion IIC, and Kodiak is like that? -- aside from not having fixed equipment like IS, they can also use Omnipods, but their armor values are fixed. Would that fix the "Kodiak-is-OP" problem or something?

People are still saying the Kodiak is OP? Does nobody else aim for that massive hexigon in the middle of the mech?

That would open up the "you're taking away my customization" box and close some more wallets.

The +15 CT structure needs to go, for the KDK-3.

Just to note, before Clans were released, PGI did have the armor value fixed like many other components but backed off from that. That would have been the death warrant for all but the top tier omnis.

I think Clan tech has been nerfed enough. And the IICs aren't omnimechs, so they don't use omnipods, and aren't really Clan/IS hybrids, they're pure Clan updated versions of old Star League Battlemechs. And the Kodiak is a Battlemech, built and designed from scratch by the Clans, no omnipods there either.

I'm also not sure why you think nerfing other mechs has anything to do with balancing the Kodiak, especially nerfing the IICs, which no one is really complaining about. The only Kodiak that has been the poster child for being OP is the 3. So let's not nerf everything Clan related because of one variant of one chassis, how's that for a plan?
