I can understand how a lot of people are put off by this. It definitely represents another promise broken in terms of the way this mode was envisioned and promoted.
On the other hand, expecting this outfit to fix something so wildly complex would have meant that it was gonna be perma-half-assed.
The simplification discussed seems like a highly doable solution. Maybe not the ideal solution, but having something that works is better than something permanently in the works.

You know it's a REACH when people still use the "broken" promises card.

In the real world, you have a design, and then often have to adapt that design to what reality requires, be it due to budget, time, resources, technological limitations, or just plain making things work.
There's a reason game developers basically never use the word "promise".
No game ever ends up matching designs. Creative works are like that. And that should be expected; people should not read every word of what the developer wants to acheive as a solemn promise. That's just stupid.

The only thing I am put off by the steadfast refusal to consider implementing real FP along the lines of MPBT: 3025.
These changes are perhaps logical in the short-term, but the failure to do "real FP" is leaving a huge amount of money on the table that PGI could be taking.
