Greetings, mech fans!

Please allow me to point out a few things in favor of the addition of the longbow to the roster of mech packs:

1. Its in the timeline, its been around for about 400 years in fact!

2. It's an underloved classic, less hassle from the grognards over aesthetic choices but still tempting for them to buy!

3. We haven't had an IS missile assault mech since closed beta* !

4. Its an assault mech, it'll sell way better than a light!

5. Three variants and a potential hero already!

6. No power creep, missiles suck!

7. It's an asset HBS will want!

8. Its super easy to model/animate, its just a couple boxes and cylinders on a pair of humanoid legs!

I do hope that my arguments will be favorably received and we can soon see this wonderful 85 tonner modernized and sold as a mech pack for all those mech fans out there!

Best wishes,
Funkin.

*Possible exception of the Mauler

Not many would want it i suspect, so likely PGI wont make it.

I want it, iwantitwantitwantit! If PGI can get a decent missile boat out of its Hero version, I will finally achieve my dream of owning an Assault class Hero LRM boat--something that is lacking in MWO.

PGI: Longbow, pls!

isn't the role exactly the same as a stalker?

Its role is "shut the hell up and eat missiles".

So of course people will load it up with SRMs because reasons.

Not at all my friend. The stalker is a mixed weapon platform spread across SRM, LRM, medium and large laser systems. A gunboat if you will, designed as a quintisential assault mech plodding towards the enemy with impressive firepower at all ranges.

The longbow on the other hand is quite certainly a fire support mech, with an overwhelming amount of LRMs and only a pair of medium lasers for emergencies if confronted.

In theory you could put a bundle of ALRMs on a stalker, but the maximum of 4 missile hardpoints (5 on the 5M variant) is the minimum a longbow would possess. Most Longbow variants would have 6 missile hardpoints, allowing 6xARLM5 builds with proper LRM quirks to be a possibility. On a mech 10 tons heavier than its nearest (IS) competitor for hardpoints, the Archer.
The other option is to load as many ASRMs into it as possible, which could arguably work better than the archer as it wouldn't have troublesome bay doors to deal with.

PGI will most likely give some variants hardpoint inflation, to make them different, so 7-8 missile hardpoint Longbow is not out of the question. The important thing is I want those big hardpoints on the Hero version so I can farm C-Bills while I farm C-Bills.

Also an eagerly awaited design, there are no missile heavy 60 tonners at all, and the closest competitor catapult is quite different with it's non-humanoid shape.

specs are mediocre. Don't care. Specs realyl barely matter. We are playing gunbag warrior online. 3x Energy hardpoints, 4x Missiles, 86 kph base speed? Gives it the ability to be a decent hunter/killer. 4x SRM4 and 3x MPL, big engine, GO.

6C would translate comfortably to 2x Ballistic RA, 2x Energy RT, 3x Energy LA. 9A would probably be 2 missiles, 5 energy. Etc.

Do you even Meta, bruh?

My mistake, I keep thinking the mad dog is 65 tons for some reason.
Also it's a clan mech, but point made.

I thought you were just referring to IS mechs, myself, but yeah. Crossbow, Grand Dragon, Lancelot all would add some nice low end, high speed cavalry mechs.

At the point where I legitimately considered running a super stock Catapult A1, I determined I no longer care about viability. I just want pretty mechs. This classifies as a pretty mech.

That TBH is my criteria these days. Well, and ability for somewhat diverse loadouts... which is what makes the Charger so interesting to me.
