the bushwacker is a fan favourite. personally it holds a special place in my heart. its the first mech you start with in mechwarrior 3, my first mechwarrior game. and as a kid in the 90s, i had no idea there was even an option to switch mechs. for years of my life, this was the only mech i had ever piloted. needless to say, its a favourite of mine. if not my all time favourite mech.

the bushwacker has a very unique and distinctive design. low, with wide stretching arms on either side and a slim torso. with that functional, yet awesome looking KA-50 style canopy. like an attack helicopter on legs.

but this redesign... its. wrong. in almost every way. its tall, with stunted arms and a tiny slit of a canopy window. gone is the look of an attack helicopter, replaced with something that looks more suitable for a redesign of the crab.

what happened to the astounding technical readout 3058 art? or the fantastic mechwarrior 4 redesign?

i do love most redesigns in mechwarrior online. clan mechs look great, the unseen retain the look and feel of the original while looking fresh and new. but the bushwacker was never unseen, so why the huge departure? out of all the mechs re-imagined for mechwarrior online, this is the first one that feels really off to me. be it the awkward proportions, or the tiny cockpit. is there ANY chance we could see it changed, even if just a little, before its implemented in game? maybe just the canopy windows on the side broadened and squared up, and the arms widened?

the canopy should look like this:

i hope this finds someone at PGI. and i dont want to sound mean or anything. im just really passionate about this mech. i LOVE this mech.

this is just the lone opinion of a diehard bushwacker fan

I want to buy the Bushwhacker. I really, really do. But I'm going to have to vote with my wallet and not open it again until I get a new light 'mech since my beloved lights have been completely ignored by PGI for well over a year now. 13 friggin' 'mechs in a row and not a single light. There's something very wrong with that.

While I intend to get the Bushmaster, I must agree that we need to see another light Mech such as the Fire Ant or perhaps even the Anubis.

A diehard bushwacker fan should know the toy is based off the cartoon...

And the cartoon is the original bushwacker... (In an attempt to unify all things battletech, they made the cartoon canon and were forced to put the bushwacker, sloth, and infiltrator into the Battletech universe...)

They even had to retcon a lot of great stories because of the somerset strikers...

(Especially credit for discovering Camelot command... Which originally we to the Snord's Irregulars...)

(This is one of the reasons I hate the bushwacker...)

So much lore from Alexandr. Right on mate! Don't forget how the cartoon was a "TV series" in the books. So much smiles on this post from^^.

im not disputing the origin of the bushwacker, im just stating that its weird they went with the toy design opposed to the technical readout design, as this was the document that entered the bushwacker into canon. (the cartoon is NOT canon) well i guess it sorta is? its a cartoon in the mechwarrior universe. based loosely on canon events.

point is, it looks nothing like the OFFICIAL canonical art.
