Running the MechWarriorOnline.exe doesn't even give a splash screen. Nothing happens

Clicking it again says there is another instance running

Checking on Task Manager shows BootstrapSentinel running and a MechWarriorOnline.exe 32bit running. Shouldn't it be 64bit... I have no way of changing this now since I don't get the patcher screen.

Trying to end task on either gives me "Unable to terminate process- The operation could not be completed- The operation is not valid for this process" and netiher are using large resources... they're just sitting there

At this point I have to restart the computer to get it to leave the task manager

Running a Repair Tool finds this:

The only way I can get the game to run is by running the MWOClient.exe and that only happens if the game is up to date and doesn't require a patch. This happened to me on the last patch too. As a matter of fact I think it began on the last patch because it ran fine when I installed it but a new patch came out a couple of days later.

If it requires a patch I have to uninstall the game and reinstall it so the patch can be applied.

I can't find info on this anywhere online. The closes things I've seen are years old. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

If you are running the Steam copy, re-validate the local cache.
If you aren't, then I'll let someone else help you Posted Image

Judging from the file paths, I'd assume you aren't running the Steam version.

This occurred for me with a recent Win10 update that partially re-activated XBox App, but I did not know it at the time until I reinstalled GPU drivers a few times, then Win + G blue box showed up at the MWO log-in screen. Poor keyboard suffered.

The app was not completed reinstalled but some of its components were. Ended up editing the registry to stop that and that ended my issue at that moment. But I ended up rolling back a Win10 version and switching from fast to slow installs due to other issues that popped up, such as issues with copying/pasting items, intermittent system instability, etc.

Drill down to MWO folder, locate BootstrapSentinel.exe and delete it, that will stop the loop for MechwarriorOnline.exe and it will shut it down. Then run the Repairtool 2x just to make sure no issues with files.

I would suggest rolling back a win10 version/update. If you are not using Win10, you will need assistance from another.

Just to add instead of edit. If you do not wish to go through that headache, download and run it through Steam. For me only the Stand-alone, both Live and Test had this issue.
