I didn't noticed a thread for this,, But what factions should people be picking for the events? I know i haven't played faction in a long time, probably best to join a group right? But are mercs worth doing for it? or pick an actual faction?

messing around with my clan mechs now, to build my deck, but not sure what to pick.

Mercs can't get credit for the IS or Clan specific acheivements, just the basic scouting/assult ones. That also means no free mech and that you can't complete both the,IS and Clan specific acheivemens.

Look at the faction details of each faction and see which one suits you best.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since all IS houses have a mutual defense and assistance agreement when fighting against Clans, and Clans have similar agreement, you will be able to get in action with any faction that you choose. E.g. If a Clan is attacking House Kurita, you can jump into the battle to defend with Kurita even if you are a member of any other House. Same with Clans.

To further increase your chance of getting in action, join one of the Houses that have a border with a Clan, or a Clan that has a border with a House. This allows you to join IS vs clan fights as attacker too.

What faction should you pick for this event?

Pick a faction that is packed with people. The reason why is so you can get matches, because if you pick the highest bonus return then you will most likely not get any matches due to no one to play against.

Uh, excuse me, but I'm sitting at 9/10 mediums, 10/10 heavies and 6/10 clan mechs as an inner sphere mercenary. I also just got the Cameron/ ComStar warhorn reward for completing the KMDD heavies objective. This means that technically I can go clan once my inner sphere contract runs out, before the 20th, and complete the clan side as well.

Yeah, the Loyalist are the ones that have the complaint. They can only do Clan OR IS unless they want to suffer the penalty for deserting their Loyalist unit. The Devs are aware of this and planning on compensating the Loyalist somehow at the end of the Event but they have not said how.

Wouldn't have minded getting both IS and clan mechs, but breaking loyalty has 7 days penalty where you can't join new faction and you lose your faction reputation. One executioner isn't really worth it.

So in other words they are giving me an incentive to play less faction play instead of more.

Currently Wasat is being hotly contested. Join Marik, or the bandwagon Falcons.
