I have a general thought that the Special Edition Charity Mech: Jenner Mech sould be avaliable each year. Or something like it benifiting cancer research. To tell you the truth I don't really drive my Jenner's any more and wouldn't really drive this one but I would buy it tomorrow.

As my son is in college and I am looking forward to grandbabies I cant imagine losing such a great addition to our family. When I read about this story I wish I had been playing back when this mech was released. PGI should still be collecting for this worthy cause and I bet I am not the only person that would be on board.

Lets not reopen this here. Bringing it up again is likely to open memories that the family may be moving on with.

If the family and PGI want to do something, that's up to them. I am fine with the concept, but not with discussing this individual case in a public forum, unless it is endorsed by the family.

Just donate to childhood cancer research.

It was nice what PGI did.

But we don't need them to be our middleman in further charitable donations.

I think it would be great if they did a yearly charity mech actually, supporting different good causes. F2P games are a great platform for charity projects IMO.

They shouldn't reopen Sarah's Jenner though.

If you want to donate to a good cause, just do it, but don't be bloody expecting to get a cookie for it.

there were enough people who "bought" sarahs mech because of collector reasons or the camo or whatever and didn't give a flying fox about the case or the charity. While the intention of the whole event was good and maybe helped even a bit I doubt people would have spend that much money if they wouldn't have gotten a new toy.

So let it be, no need to open this up again.

I made pretty much the exact same thread about a year ago and received plenty of replies like this, kind of confused me.

It's funny that we're fine with letting folks buy hundreds of dollars worth of digital toys, but put one up where the proceeds go to charity, even if people buy it only for the fact that it's a new toy, at the end of the day, it's a win for the charity is it not? Does the motivation or intent for giving to charity matter if, at the end of the day, the charity receives money? It's done by real world businesses all the time through those "buy this and half the proceeds go to charity", folks generally don't claim that this is a bad thing.

No it is not. Because you make a sale at the cost of a gone life. Don't get me wrong, PGI did the right thing back in that day, people demanded it and it made some media echo which was kinda good I think. But doi g it again would only look like a publicity stunt. Let's keep some dignity here (is that the right word for it? I hope it is).

Every year since one of these threads show up. Just like nine eleven now being a big deal in the u.s. What happened sucks and shouldn't be forgotten in both cases. You should not find a way to profit off of it. When it was released pgi stated they track it just like it was just another Jenner D. For all intents and purposes it is as I have it along with the founder Jenner D. They have the exact same hard points, engine cap etc.

I like the sarah skin I really do and so do many others. Having a "resale" or what ever name you call it just to get the re-skin dishonors her family, I know if i had a kid lost I'd be angered every year if some one kept reminding me of it just because they want some thing that was done in the kid's honor when I'd have to live every single day knowing I lost the kid. I'd rather some one said they saw some thing that reminded them of my loss and donated to a good cause without expecting any compensation except my thanks.

Didn't expect a cookie for it at all. I thought what PGI did was wonderful. I didn't do it they did. I really don't understand the posts backlash from some responders. I manage programs like this at work every year for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Soup to Nuts and Christmas for Adopted kids. companies take in a bunch of money but it's not a sale it goes to those organizations. Most companies like the one I work for matches those donations. Why does everyone assume the worst motives?

I for one think its great when a company has a heart. As for the one responder saying people purchased the mech to collect and no other reason. So what if they did. Their sale still helped a great cause.

Title changed.

Have a great day.

I think a yearly charity mech would be great. It doesn't need to be tied to any previous charity events in any way. Especially not tied to the one and only charity effort PGI has ever done.

They stated during the setup for the previous Sarah charity event, that they put all the admin processes in place to do further events of similar nature in the future. So why not do them. It would be cool, and even mechwarriors (well, some of us) have big hearts and give to charity. My wife and I give to several charities every year, it's just something we do. We never expect to "get a cookie" for it, we do it for the right reasons.

But why the hell not do one? Who's it going to hurt? Don't tie it to, or even reference the Sarah charity event. Just do it for it's own sake.

Not a bad idea.

Blizzard does something similar with their pets in-game. Usually have one per year that is sold for charity.

I´d be up for having a mech with a special skin (normal version tho) that is sold for charity, why... because of visibility.

If you donate in silence that is really nice, but charity drives bring visibility for the cause and that in turn help to gather more donations. So before people sneer and bleats about people "wanting treats" for donating... Perhaps stop for a sec and think a step or three further. Heck just look at the Ice Bucket challenge for what a little visibility can do. Sure the currency traded that time was publicity (for the people taking the challenge) but that is not any different really. It is still a reward for doing a good deed.

Bullying someone into changing a title you dislike is pretty pathetic actually Posted Image

I support another Charity event, be that Sarah's Jenner a new Sarah's Jenner IIC or something else.

Still upvoting your own posts.

Anyways, if PGI wants to do something else for charity, I'll support them in that. But don't bring Sarah back into this. It's disrespectful.

A thread about one of the most beautiful moments in online gaming being potentially repeated ends up like this?

Stay classy everyone!
