Thanks for the clarification but.... why the stubby arms? *cries*

Looks like someone sawed the end off of those PPC barrels. Bit disappointing, but, I'll deal.

Lasers and AC of some sort, it looks like. No ERPPC on that loadout.

Welp, you're right. Wasn't paying much attention, thought it was running the Prime build. My fault.

Still, wish they capped that gaping hole in the head when it isn't being used. That gap breaks up the curves, ya know? Also wish the laser barrels were longer, but maybe those are mediums and larges are bigger? #nitpicking

No long laser barrels. Posted Image Still a good looking space marine. Primary aesthetic gripe is that the empty laser hardpoint in the head is not capped over when vacant.

Yeah, that looks pretty stupid. Both lack of long barrels and a hole in the head. Brilliant.

Interesting quirk. Didn't realize the Hellslinger had that one as well so that's cool.
Wouldn't say it's useless but certainly situational.
Nice.
I like that we are seeing some quirks com through that give the mechs a bit of flavour and character. Hopefully this trend will continue.
Look forward to seeing it stomping around the battlefields.

Think of it as being the one mech you don't care which planet you get, as it won't make any difference to your weapons fire.

So this is completely unaffected by environmental temps, heat or cold.. The hellslinger is @ 50%, this NGYR is @ 100% good for Caustic, no advantage in Polar. Interesting, a ERPPC monster in Terra Therma gg!

I have no complaints, except that now my build for the -Prime is gonna have to include a targeting computer for ppc velocity :D

Thanks for the clarification Alex. Also...

Do you think the Firebrand hero for the Jagermech could get this same quirk too (50 or 100), as it is in the same "hellish" theme as the Hellslinger the next time there is a quirk pass? Just pointing out at least one other potential IS candidate for the quirk. :)

Since the announcement I'm wishing they make it shine when hot... Probably not happening, but the inclusion of the heat transfer quirk is really nice. Probably in the top 3 nicest things PGI did in quite a while IMO (which is quite sad but, yeah...)

Noobs will still cry like babies when they get Terra Therma...

Stubby arms pinched in to the torso and a hole in the head. Not good. The 3D modellers have done a poor job here. The concept art looked fantastic, this is very disappointing.

Agreed I'm up for luminescent displays, a blinding flash under night vision would be great!

I prefer a useless but interesting quirk to a powerful and unnecessary crutch.

The misuse of quirks from their originally stated goal of "slightly improving mechs to balance out the effectiveness of underperformers" to "game changing stat modifications that make or break the viability of the machine, regardless if they are actually necessary" makes me sick. I am glad they are not only getting toned down, but changed more into flavor-quirks.

Large weapon quirks, especially. Those just serve to pigeonhole builds into what maximizes the quirk's capabilities the most.

You mean like the gauss quirk on this build with energy draw incoming?

Practically useless is fine. I love the Kodiak's claws, and the King Crabs pincers, even if they serve no purpose. This is a mixed bag, a minor buff on some maps or a minor nerf on others, but it'll be very minor either way. As PeeDee said above, better to have an interesting but practically useless quirk than a game-changing crutch.

These things are flavour.

you're comparing a quirk to two non quirk flavour pieces? I get your point about flavour but at least try to use comparable things. ;)

You don't have enough space for lots of heat sinks though. Plus energy draw incoming.... ;)

The fact is that the NightGyr doesn't need weapone quirks at all, as she has a lot of hardpoints.
That's why quirks are useless.
Instead she has huge problems in torso twisting (looooooow engine), and has only the up/down actuators. So, very easy to outmaneuver.

So to break down the Night Gyr External Heat Transfer Quirk a little more:

The Night Gyr takes no Heat Penalty from environmental Heat. This includes the base temperature of the map along with any hot-spots throughout, such as lava on Terra Therma or the caldera on Caustic. Whether it's standing in a pool of lava or on a rock, the resting Heat of a Night Gyr will always will be 0%.

The Quirk does provide the Gyr with a slight buff against enemy Flamers, but Flamers do still affect Heat levels on the Gyr. This change to the relation between Flamers and the External Heat Transfer Quirk came in with the new Flamers on March 15th.

All that said, the Night Gyr does still take damage from lava. So while its Heat level won't increase when standing in lava, it will take damage from the lava in the same way as all other 'Mechs.

While not as efficient as the Night Gyr in these respects, the Hellslinger carries similar characteristics due to its -50% External Heat Transfer Quirk.

And here's a bonus (11mb) GIF of the Night Gyr:
Spoiler

As others have said, I would like to see longer laser barrels. Also, Could you make one of a "Nova Gyr"? (x2 ER PPCs right arm, x3 ER Large Lasers right arm) Posted Image

I'm thinking about canceling my pre-orders if Energy Draw is introduced. And I'm not the only one. If any PGI is reading this comment then do NOT even think about putting that crap in. Just chuck it now. You're gonna shoot yourselves in the foot. You're gonna lose money, lose players, and lose any future players. I'm not bitching. This is what is going to happen.

Totally agree, they make You preorder mech with month of advance basing Your choiche on actual playstyle and then they change all, normally with quirk (and this was barely acceptable) and sometimes with all game style change (ttally unacceptable).
