Right, simple as can be. I've got two different possible builds for my CN9-AL. I'm curious as to which one you folks like more.

Firstly, the XL version: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...856ea04b5b89400

It's a nice build, I do well with it and it's enjoyable, but XLs in anything heavier than 45 tonners, especially ones with wide STs like the Cent, make me a tad uncomfortable and a good number of my deaths come from ST coring after losing my shield arm. While I torso twist and generally do so pretty well, I feel like a lot of the 50+ ton mechs, with a few exceptions like the Dragon or Crab, which can push some insane speeds with an XL and usually get hit in the CT more than the STs, don't get enough speed in the trade-off between XL and STD so I built an alternative.

STD version: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...94b04c1232cc4f3

It trades a bit of firepower and speed for a bit more srm ammo and STD survivability, and brings back the Cent's ability to zombie, but I'm not sure how I feel about the loss of the pulse lasers. I haven't taken this into battle yet, or even purchased it, but I'm wondering how it looks to more experienced players.

SRM 4 generally reloads faster... it would give you a ton and a slot to get another DHS...

True enough, and it's not that much of a firepower hit since the SRM is more of a backup weapon on this build instead of the primary source of firepower.

I'm gonna recommend your standard engine version on this. You're really not getting that much out of having the XL engine in the first build. My advice is play towards the large laser, which is kind of the CN9-AL's signature weapon, if it has one. I'd say the highest efficiency CN9-AL builds either go all medium lasers and more SRMs, or all large lasers and no SRMs.

Out of the two, go with the standard, for sure.

If you want the pulse lasers back, do this.

If you want to optimize it further, could add ferro and up the engine.

This is another build I've had some good results with.

One single SRM launcher is a waste of tonnage. Dropping it and its ammo, lets you take another Large Laser.

This is superior.

This build makes an excellent skirmisher and is my preferred CN9-AL loadout.

The following build is taken straight from metamechs.com and at a glimps looks pretty mean!

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5a2f0b52f5df9cc

Uses an XL engine but its pretty agile, and packs a whallop. It doesnt have srm launchers like other people are posting but 3x LPL is already hot enough, and still brings the pain

Edit: i feel i must put a disclaimer... I dont pilot medium mechs very well so I didnt want to make a comment on your builds because I dont have the expertise to do so. Instead i posted the metamechs link more as something to look over and maybe channel some ideas from.

There are a lot of good builds with the AL. Many will tell you Cents need a STD Engine to zombie, but I have always liked XLs in them. They are decently XL friendly and zombie'ing doesn't usually result in added productivity on the battlefield as most alphas are so high now you aren't going to be around long after your STs are gone.

That said there are good STD Engine builds out there.
Here are the two ways I run my AL
XL275: More heat efficient than it looks. At mid range fire the 3LLs until you need to cool down. At close range fire the SRMs mixing in the LLs on chain fire.
STD275: Very cool, but I can't get the same damage output as with the one above.

I will also add, that many of the builds in this thread, including the originals posted, look like they will perform well.
