Pilot skills ----> consumables (i think, not at a computer to confirm)

Yes, thanks, I found them, right after I spent a lot of gxp, lol. And I spent it on a wasteful thing. Mech skill trees. I just can't play enough ATM do them.

Coolshot 9x9 is the best consumable in the game unless you are running a nearly heat neutral mech. When you activate coolshot it will take about a half second to reduce your heat. So if you fire at the same time you will likely overheat yourself, pausing the coolshot, and when you power back up then it will apply the rest of the cooling. Seismic, Radar Derp, and Coolshot 9x9 are the modules you should invest in first.

I was told about Radar Derp and Seismic but no one ever mentioned Coolshot 9.

There are 2, Coolshot 9 and Cool Boost.

I do not see them in the "warehouse" anywhere. How many C-bills do they cost and more important, what slot do they go in?

They are used in the consumable slot. They should be listed on the modules page under consumables in the mechlab.

A 9x9 is 40,000 c-bills I think.

Cool Boost increases the effectiveness of all coolshots by 20%. Coolshot 9 turns the 9 into a 9x9. Get this upgrade first, it doubles the effectivness, then get the cool boost. The 9x9 is the only one worth using unless you want to buy the MC version(which is not a good way to spend MC)

If you want a good read on all the mechanics.

I do not use cool shots on any Mech, I tried them when first realeased, but if I am having heat problems I would usualy swap a laser for a heatsink, but then I do not like alpha striking and meta play, and rarely play anything moving slower than 75.
For consumables I use a strike and a UAV, I concider the UAV to be by far the most useful consumable.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think cool shots are overrated, you spend what could work out as half a matches earnings (on a bad loss) for 1 extra alpha strike

Well, first off, I was wrong, I have 86 of the 6's not the 9's. I won them in event etc.

And under skills, I see 6 consumables modules but none of them are showing up in the warehouse. Like improved UAV, Coolshot etc. I guess I find out how much the cost if I unlock them.

So which one do you replace? UAV or Air Strike?

Depends on the mech, if I am in a front line mech, I remove uav, but if I am in a scout mech, I remove Air Strike

Really all the consumables are good.

UAV's are the most helpful for the team overall and are great for herding pugs
Strikes are free damage, arty is easier to use but if you can properly line up air strikes they are better
Coolshots will help the most in the thick of the fight.

Just pick the one you'd like to use the most and go for it.

LOL@Trollbuchet.

My theory is based in part on how they come up with the variant codes. Kon said the DC variants were considered command variants, and I noticed that at least the Cyclops DC has that extra module slot. So maybe "command" variants all have extra slots?

That was probably the case originally, but not any longer - the Atlas D-DC now has fewer module slots since a couple of balance passes ago, rather than more.

Neither. Air/Artillery Strikes and UAVs are superior to all other options - though you should still learn to use the Cool Shots. I'd probably replace the strike, if I was going to experiment.

The thing to remember is that Cool Shots affect individual performance, while UAVs and Strikes affect a much wider audience, as it were, but with less impact on you, personally. So it's easy for confirmation bias to make Cool Shots seem better than they are (you remember positive occurrences far more readily than negative occurrences - non-events.)

I drop an Airstrike at least once per match. And a UAV when I can. I try to get as close as I can behind the enemy to use it. So I use UAV's mostly when I play a light.

I picked Airstrike over Artillery because I use only mouse button so I had to pick one.

Here is the way I understand them. Artillery hits in a circle and Airstrikes are in a line. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I wouldn't say its confirmation bias.

What you are saying is true for puglandia, but UAV's are nearly a waste in the group Q or when facing competent opponents.

You are guaranteed to get 100% usefulness from a coolshot every time, more potential with the other consumables but mileage will vary.

The organized groups I run in always recommend UAVs. You may only get them for a short period, though placement and timing make a difference, but the situational awareness is invaluable at the right time.

Strikes can be avoided or circumvented. So i wouldnt say its superior over cool shot. You cant overlap too many strikes like the good ole days.

Coordinated use of alphas can quickly remove enemy mechs from the battlefield. Cool shots can add to your teams alpha strikes in a short window of time, thus opening up possibilities for a snowball. Especially since your team is not limited to how many cool shots can be used at a time.

Having a 1 mech advantage can be extremelly overwhelming, especially early in the match.

Coolshot = more dps.

More DPS = more better.

I find UAVs have the least utility, especially if you are playing with an experienced or organized team.

Well, I have 86 coolshot 6's, which seem to be so lame that no one has mentioned them, lol.
