In other Mechwarrior games, the view horizons were generally about 1000 meters. This is a bit limited unless there is fog, dust ect. Who thinks the horizon should be further than this?

It should be as far as technically possible, to allow for greater weapon ranges.
More space means more potential strategy. It means fire support mechs can actually stand out of the range of brawlers. It means scout mechs actually have space to outflank.
These can only be good things, if you ask me.

I personally think it would be awesome to be a long range fire support mech and have targets pop up on your radar from a few kms away sent to you from scout mechs and launch a salvo of LRM's at the enemy targets.

the scout mechs would have to be equiped with BAP and mabye NARCS before the LRM's could lock on. or you could have the C3 computer on the scout and the support mechs would have the C3 slaves...

Should completely depend on planetary and environmental circumstances. 1000 meters in a sandstorm? You wish... And on urban maps all the visibility in the world might not matter if the buildings are taller than your Mech.

The horizon should be however far you would be able to see in a given direction depending on terrain. From where I'm sitting now I'm in a valley, on one side the horizon is the top of a hill which is 750 m horizontal meters away and 140 meters higher. If I look up or down the valley I can see about 700 meters in one direction due to hills and about 400 meters due to a farm. Looking eastwards across the valley I can see a treeline 425 meters away and then above the tree line I can see the base of a hill 1500 meters away and the top of that hill 2100 meters away (and also about 140-150 m higher). In that area that I can see there are perhaps 50 things that could hide a mech, several ponds, a sunken road, a sunken railroad bed, and several barns, silos, two or three manufacturing buildings, and houses. All the treelines could hide elementals or conventional armor.

I'm hoping the allow us to draw the whole map if we have the horsepower to do it. limited draw distance sucks.

Visibility was so short in previous games because of the limitations of computers at the time. Visibility of less than 1000m is officially classed as fog (at least in sailing terms). In clear weather with no obstructions a 6 foot person should be able to see 5.3km, from a height of 12m (say the pilots seat in a mech) its 13km. There should be no reason to limit the view distance as severely as in previous games except maybe an option to reduce it for people with older machines if they need to. Otherwise it should only be reduced by obstructions, smoke, fog, sandstorms or whatever environmental conditions they decide to throw into a map.

Exactly what Fiachdubh said. Hopefully they'll put in fun weather conditions that would limit things.

Every single one of the previous MW games failed in terms of draw distance. I'm a huge fan of the old games, but still - if this is done with the Cry3engine, then I don't want to see any lame distance-fade-ins. None. If my weapon has a range of 1200m and the engine draw craps out at 1000m then I'm being ripped off. If you can't give me the target before I can hit it then it ain't worth it.
Give me a solid target chunking down a hill that I can get a bead on. If it takes a fancier video card then I'll consider it, strongly.

seeing distance should depend on terrain and depend on how far an actual person can see (without zooming in) and have it increased when your zooming in. From my top window you can only see as far as the nearest town which is about 3 miles away and that is without obstruction.

3000 meters would be great!!! i presume view distance is going to differ from sensor distance. as of right now i feel like i cant scope out the map with zoom and by the time im close enough to see them i will always be out maneuvered by baby mechs.
