There is no story behind the 'Mech. It's just a 'Mech with a fancy livery.

We later found out, when PGI removed it as an option, it was actually a test case for the Yen Lo Wang (1st Hero if I remember correctly)
When the Loyalty Mechs (L versions) were introduced the AH made a return appearance. Later a standard (non L version) was added. Some of us received an Atlas, King Crab and the Centurion as loyalty mechs. Each had this 'special paint job, and (personally) believe it is one of the best paint jobs in the game especially since you can change colours.

What did the brave Centurion do with this great power, I hear you ask?
F*ck all, because the best medium mechs in MWO are still the Hunchback IIC, the Stormcrow and the Nova, and they all took his lunch money and sent him back to the farm.

The Paint job is (if I remember correctly) a (set) of Norse or Vikings myth or god(s), not really sure.
I just dont know about that end of it. The Atlas / King Crab and Cent each have one of the 3 'gods' (for lack of better description) and my understanding was these were 3 of the 'gods' of war / victory for the Vikings/Norsemen.

Eventually they re-introduced it in the form you see today, the Loyalty variation based on the norse goddess.

Sort of...
It is the three Norns, more or less the three fates.
Urdr (past) -- AS7-S
Verdani (present) -- CN9-AH
Skuld (future) -- KGC-000
The Centurion is the one I'm missing....

I didn't get the king crab, but I rarely see them so it doesn't seem like I'm missing out. The AS7-S is a beast though.

Well the King Crab is just a 000 with special paint... For a while the AS7-S (L) was they only AS7-S in the game....

It's odd too, because I remember when some folks said the S would be a "useless lrm" mech way, way back when the game was new. Funny how that happens sometimes.
At least that crab has the bonus.
I remember asking for the AH to come back after the Yen Lo was around for a while about every few months. I like when they go back and add these variants that are around for existing mechs.
Now we just need the Hunchback 4N

But the Angel confuses me. Too christian. I cant remember if the old lore pictured Valkyries (spirit ladies bringing dead warriors to Valhalla), looking like angels.

Some of the old art for them was winged, winged armour/helmets or not winged at all.... Depending on when you look at Norse mythology, after the Christianization of the Vikings, the Valkyries took on a more angelic look.... But the three fates were not Valkyries.
