As we play, whether in CW or FW, I feel a constant sense of desolation in these maps, like everyone cleared out long before we arrived, which is no small wonder because a lot of these maps are desolate places anyway. (They remind me of abandoned nuke sites I've mucked around in.). Can we shelve the ongoing defense-sector map aesthetic and entertain some new possibilities?
Hybrid Farm - A map full of GMO corn or wheat tall enough for a Nova or a short light 'mech to hide in, laced with grain elevators, barns you can walk through/hide in, and derelict ag equipment.
Sleepy Suburb - A massive neighborhood of houses too short to hide behind, too big to walk over without jump jets, and a labyrinth of streets and cul-de-sacs that makes dodging enemies a chore.
Bouk Obelisk - In a shout-out to old 'Mechwarrior II' this map includes a circular stadium of concentric rings of ancient stones that descends toward the center, where a large, primitive obelisk still stands. A rock slide covers ~15% of the stadium's circumference, blocking passage on some levels of concentric rings and allowing light 'mechs to pick their way through tunnels on other levels. Large, henge-like stones protrude in each ring, making for effective if not ample cover, allowing 'mechs to dash between them or use them as cover while sniping.
Also (and I know this has been said before), can we get maps where you can shoot explosive stuff that causes damage or loosen rocks that roll and maim other 'mechs?
