Has the player base taken some dramatic hit in the last few months? I havent played much recently but actually gettin into a game is getting ridiculously long.

Na, everything is fine, just the steamnoobs are gone. There should be plenty of players left, long waiting times is just Matchmaker finding the best possible enemy for you...

Assuming you mean the quick play queue, there is faction play event going on.
Despite recent criticism concerning the quality of faction play, I'm sure the recent event has contributed to a lower population in quick play.

^ What he said. FP event is still going on, so pug-queue wait-time is suffering cause of it.

I find it hard to believe that there are so many players in FP that QP would be noticeably affected. It would have to be like hundreds of players, right?

Well lets not forget all the folks running the PTS that PGI has provided for us and encouraged us to use (by having non-stop events in the live server since the PTS went live). Well, okay, so maybe only a few dozen players are over there instead of in the regular QP queue at any given time, but still, numbers add up.

There were over 100 attacking and over 100 defending most of the weekend on the Jade Falcon front.

I don't know. I've never bought in to "the population is fine" talk. Any time I used to play it was the same 23 faces match, after match, after match, after match.....

I wouldnt say its too low. But I say what I heard many times, Steam release was a bit wasted. It was THE opportunity to make thousands of players stay. example: The menu UI isnt that clear but what really would have make a dif would be PvE...

Well, assuming 2-3k players on at any given time I can see that affecting the wait times.

I'd attribute it to the faction event. Hey a free mech and mech bay is hell tempting. And considering there's 2 sides to play and not everyone is lucky in getting the challenges completed, I'd think this will go on til the end of the event. I don't think I've ever scout dropped so quickly so often before XD

ROFL Dude MWO's player base has been declining since Closed beta when 300,000 + players bailed when they figured out MWO was a FPS shallow joke of a MechWarrior game and the player base has declined every day 1 player at a time up until now.

But MWO is not the only game to start dying off there have been quite a few huge games doing the same thing. STO-Defiance-WOW-WOT-ETC.

Basic math

Faction play event + Energy Draw Public Test + Solo Queue + Private Matches = Long queue times + "This game is dying!" speculation
