...Finally the rest of the community is starting to agree with me. This keeps up, Russ and Co. will have no choice but to do a light soon.

I have been waiting for them to announce a Light bundle pack because sooner or later they have to release light 'Mechs but I guess they still don't have good reason financially to release them. It's a wake up call for them I guess, because they really need to find a way to make Lights sell.

The Locust IIC will sell. It is a 25 ton BattleMech with 9 energy hardpoints. It will run at Commando speeds with a 47 point alpha at its disposal.

Yes, it will sell.

Sounds like the mech announced in October will be a Clan mech. Any guesses?

While I doubt it... I will never say "no" to the Nova Cat. Like I said, this one and the Fire Moth are the last two mechs I'd 100% put any money down on, with a "maybe" on the Pouncer. And that's it.

That is one of the few mechs that I would buy regardless of how PGI butchers the game with Energy Draw...

Love for the Nova Cat is blind and all consuming. Let it fill you with the warmth that only two ERPPC and three ERLLas can generate.

Or 6 LRM15 and 2 ERMLas if you're into that sort of thing.

You freak.

Lolcust IIC seems pretty nice but I think the Clan needs a 20 tonner more for FP (e.g. Piranha).

for me, it would depend how much Alex deviates from source. Nova Cat is night perfect as is. If it gets Timberwolf syndrome, I will be a sad panda.

I just don't think we will see another Light anytime soon.

I love the art, the MW4 model of it, and I like the clix model. The actual IWM model, however? It looks like it was flattened out in the torso. I dislike it. They made it look too long, and it breaks up the lines of the thing. :\

I agree with you, but this game is going to the garbage as far as I'm concerned if the PTS shenanigans go live. Probably going to refund many of my packs as I don't want my money going to mechanics that make the game worse.
That's your prerogative. My take is that there is at least as many people complaining about the game and its meta stagnating.

It'll take a bit to settle. At the very least, I feel like mechs with less hardpoint inflation will be a little better off with the changes, and the "underpowered" and unpopular (I'm not sure, I like my Cheater) will get a bit of a boost in PD.

Interesting, but I think half of the fun of Locust is being the smallest and having uber quirks, which won't happen with the IIC.

Nah, the fun came from being able to do nasty things with what was considered the worst 'Mech in the game for the longest time. Now that it is actually good, though, that novelty is gone.

The Locust IIC will be the size of a Mist Lynx and Clan weapons are effectively equivalent to quirked IS gear. It will still get some agility quirks, more than likely, but no armor or structure.

People who complain about the meta stagnating don't know what the meta is. The only thing stagnating in this game is the repetitive TDM.

Since the best mechs in the game only need 3-4 harpoints right now, no I don't think mechs with less hardpoint inflation are going to get any better.

Whatever mech it's gonna be, it's going to be disappointing, just by it being Clan.
.

.
Unless they decide to announce a ******* Stalking Spider (followed by the Scorpion).
Seriously, if they announced it, it would probably be the first and only clan mech i ever even considered of owning.

clx looks great... I am wondering if there were different models of the Nova Cat minis like with other mechs... because that B looks alot better than the Prime mini.

You say that the meta isn't stagnating, but then you say mechs only need 3 hardpoints... let me guess, 2 peepers and goose waffle? :l

Stagnant =/= diverse, the past year as seen the meta shift several times whether it be from changes or release of mechs. The Kodiak was the addition that really shifted the meta to be less diverse sadly.

I want the Nova Cat and Supernova, and would drop money for the full collectors pack of either of those. But just looking at where my ties are should tell you why.

But I would also like to have the Piranha, but thats because I am silly and think that running around with a dozen machine guns would be fun. Unlike the current meta, which demands i load up a dozen lasers and only alpha strike because people like boring gameplay yet ***** about faction warfare and quick play being boring because they only play one way.

Since laser vomit was "balanced", peepers and goose waffle or 4x U/AC5s have taken over as the Heavy/Assault meta, though BLRs with LPLs seem to work pretty well. Brawling can still be very effective on heavies and assaults, but brawler mediums or PPFLD poptart mediums are the way to go. Lights are typically SRM brawl or cSPLs. Most weapons are represented by the top tier mechs. Laser vomit still works okay, but it is not the go to awesomesauce loadout it once was.

And yeah, like Quicksilver said, the Kodiak did lower the diversity a bit since its SO good at dakka and PPFLD, but that's the mech.. energy draw isn't needed just because of one outlier.

I think the lights the clans need as of right now:

Incubus: Faster cheetah, with more podspace to play with and it's a battlemech
only downside none of the variants have ecm

Locust IIC: No real introduction or explaining needed

Bear cub/Commando IIC: Nice humanoid energy missile boats that able to go at high speeds

Horned Owl: nice 35 tonner with nice variety between each variant

Cougar: Pseudo-medium for it class like the KitFox and Adder

Fire Falcon: Nice 25tonner with some variety in it alt config, gonna have a jenner treatment in hitboxes tho
