The Tag Laser And Me

its a crime for 100 tone mechs not to carry TAG... you can't say you don't have the space for it, especially omnipod mechs, you do have the capacity to mount it, most designs have at the very least 1 free slot.
so why are you guys not equiping TAG? do you not want to help teammates win the game?

No, just no.
I own and have mastered all the 100 ton mechs. I have never once thought,
"You know what? I could go with 1 ton less armor, ammo, heatsink, weapon etc etc etc"
Tag really only makes sense 2 scenarios. 1) A dedicated spotter (which you will almost never see at higher levels of play) or 2) a mech that actually benefits from the tag laser, and that would be a missile boat or a streak boat.
Assault mechs, especially the 100 ton variety, do not make for good LRM or streak boats (sorry Lurm Atlas and Kodiak pilots, but it is true).
They also make for horrible spotters. Their job is to either provide massive fire support, or break through enemy lines. A tag laser does not help them directly accomplish any of those things as much as more armor, heatsink, weapons or ammo.
Further think of this scenario:
I put a TAG on my KDK, DWF, KGC whatever. However, I myself am not using any missiles that benefit from tag. What happens if none of team does either? Pretty useless at that point don't you think?

the statistical chance of that happening... that's like saying "What if the enemy team are not carrying any weapons? then I don't need armor. More space for gunz!"
its more likley that you will go up against another assult, you will hit them with TAG, and your missile boats will nail them as they maneuver after you dented their armour netting you a assist/tag kill in a situation where you "may" well have died if you didn't have TAG
i would take the chance of my team having a competent missile boat(carrying 10 tones of LRMs) as a bigger thing to believe in then the chance that 1 tone extra gun will turn the fight in my favor

I mean this as no disrespect, but I am nearly 100 percent certain you are tier 5 or 4, and probably mostly playing solo Q.
Am I right?
Because once you hit the higher levels of game play LRMs and Streaks become very rare.

also this makes no sense... how is 1 tone more guns (a single small laser?) going to save your CT if you are in a situation where it will get drilled? (tag still lasts for 1 second?)
I admit, some design (particularly IS) can't slot a TAG into the build because they have 5 weapon slots or something, but if you have a mech that can mount more then 10 weapon systems?

Wow... Just wow! Thank you so much for teaching me the error of my ways... How many tag lasers should I equip on my 100 ton assault mechs? Maybe i can run 6 of them? Im pretty sure i can stay heat neutral if i chain fire them... Or should i just throw caution to the wind and alpha them with reckless abandon?

NARC however is a laser pointer for herding cats.
Pugs are an easily confused breed, happily chasing the first red dorito they see but are struck dumb when there are none in sight. Plant a NARC on someone and the LRM boats will have a field day pounding away while kill hungry heavies go in for the chase. It's like chasing a squirrel, except instead of that squirrel being a pesky light mech trying to split the team, it's a Direwolf with no chance of escape.
Either way, NARC belongs on lights or mediums, and heavies/assaults really have better things that they could be doing than tagging a target for LRM boats, things like torso twisting or lining up bigger, meaner non-hitscan weapons.

TAG requires facetime. The last thing you wanna do in an assault is to stare at your enemy(s). They will core your ct in 2 seconds.
You want locks? Move your missle-carrying *** and get your own.
I am soooooooooo tired of guys who sit in the back, one hand on its balls and cry out the teammates to do the job for them. Move with your fatties(maybe 100m behind), support them by taking hits and you will be usefull for your team. And magicaly, your get locks by your own
