this lovely event lets freelancers and mercs (but not loyalist without insane penalties) win two identical exe-cs. i won the first as a steiner contracted merc. this was actually convenient because i used it as the assault in my clan deck. it actually performed pretty well for an unbasiced chassis (with modules of course). then on saturday when my contract expired, i joined up with ghost bear and was supprised to win a second exe-c a couple days later (which came with my 100th mech bay). it was actually not a bad deal, im not locked into leveling another zeus and its worth more.

so now that i have a wad of cbills from that sale, and a short list of mechs that i haven't bought yet or mastered (mostly assaults and heavies as well as omni mechs, which are already represented in my hanger with a pile of omnipods to go with them). it was going to be a heavy that was for sure, its the only class not represented in the 8 mechs im working on right now, and there are only 6 on the heavy list vs 15 on the assault list. so i narrowed it down to one of these:

bl-7-knt-l
ctf-2x
ghr-5j
on1-m
on1-iic
tdr-5ss

its interesting that this list is an even split of mixed hardpoints and laser vomit. im not really a fan of the latter, but the former is something ive been using a lot more of. so im leaning towards the cataphract, since i haven't met one i didnt like yet (and its the only one i havent mastered).

I might just keep the 2 crap Zues loyalty mechs in my hanger as a reminder of what loyalty means to PGI.

so i log in and a zeus got injected into my account. i won 3 mechs in this event. is this pgi's way of conceeding failure or will my account get audited for this?

Why would you even say anything if you were lucky like that.

lucky one ... i gave up missing 3 light kkmd...
played yesterday nearly for hours to get 1 light kkmd (did likely 30 kkmd on the other classes in that time...)

nah, i dont want to be called an exploiter, and i know pgi has screwed up before, and deleted the screwup, and put players in the cbill hole because of it. id like to know before i put time/cbills into the zeus (though i cant do a damn thing about the exe i sold or the other one im leveling).

kinda sucks that the company tricked everyone with their fundraisers and fled. Who was making this game again?

I also like the Cat but I sold my Cat 2X since I needed the room and I sold the 4X right away since it was so slow

You can make a pretty nice mixed hard point brawler out of the 2x. Kind of a pocket Atlas. Running a standard engine... The AC 20 2x srm combo works well on hotter maps and I add 2 MLs for when I'm ok heat wise. It also has excellent offensive and defensive quirks. You have other solid choices, but if you like mixed hard point brawling the 2x works great for a 70 tonner

Ended up selling this year's Zues to free up a mecbay so I could buy Warhammers on sale.

Since the sell now is for heavy mechs that is what I have been buying. Sold the Zeus and bought two grasshoppers and two warhammers. All four better than the Zeus
