With the end of Faction Play coming and with PGI rebranding the mode every update maybe it's time to move forward. Its time for JP........ Jihad Play.

By advancing the time line to 3057 or 3058 things would not only make sense with the reduction of factions but it would also provide an opportunity to fix some of the problems present in MWO .

The Jihad Era became a 2 Faction time period with everyone either with the word of Blake or against them.

No more balance problems because everybody was using everything and anything they could get their hands on. So mixed mechs in the decks would make sense for both sides.

Even the original Long Tom had a place because if the Blakists couldn't have it , they would just nuke the crap out of it. So only they get Long Tom. The other side gets ..................... ( <--- insert idea)

Mercenaries fought for both sides so they still get to flip around.

Solo players can drop for either side but if they go Blake they must under go a mandatory brainwashing that takes weeks to clear up if they try to leave for the opposite side.

Loyalists stay Loyalists still getting a crap deal but hey why change everything.

Just thoughts.

Play with it and make it great. Something Awesome!

Jihad Era mechs were beautiful.. but the era also brought on a massive deal of power creep, in tabletop, that caused droves of Battletech players to either play older-tech games or quit to play other stuff.

Personally, I'd like to at least see Light Fusion Engines and the missing weapons make it into the game.. (IS Ultras/Streaks.. RACs.. different types of Goose flavored Waffles..)

..but, realistically, PGI isn't going to assign themselves more workload than what they already have on the timetable. They're currently focusing on Mechpacks, another game mode since they can't figure out how to make a one sided version of Assault (even though Mechwarrior 4 had dozens of playable examples,) ruining FP for Loyalists and Erectile Dysfunction Energy Draw.

Spoiler Alert: Energy Draw: Live Edition v1 is being pushed out the door sooner than we thought..

(Also, this is a Twitter pic, so read from the bottom to the top.)

I could pull out some crayons and draw a picture for them how the starting map would look. Of course that could lead to a round table with Russ and the Mercs fighting over what color is theirs. Just to find out the NGNG guys ate the cool ones.

Yeah moving Tech forward would rock but we would perhaps regret what the PGI versions would be like. Kinda a crap shoot there or game of Russian Roulette.

If we pretend we don't want it or need it and slip the idea on a post it note on to Russ's desk, with the title " Cool **** I thought up when I was drunk Friday night." Might get the man power for it.

I say we either pick one end of the narrative/esport scale of things and stick with it.

A) We go full esport and just admit that each season is us re-fighting the same fights over and over to see who is mightiest this time aroun. Which actually opens up some options as it means we could get stuff like a Dark Age leauge where I can see exactly how many Tenshi omnimechs I can take in a single drop deck and then use nothing but that deck for all things, a forever 3025 leauge for your all-intotech-all-the-time cravings, a star leauge era, uh...league, which could be kind of interesting as it would sort of be like clans vs IS lite.

Posted Image We embrace the madness that was CW open beta and run an MMO wargame of an alternative history of the Battletech timeline diverging at the point of the clam invasion by way of spheroid-on-spheroid violence and star league era stargates. . We still get seasons, but now its more like the TV kind over the sporty-sport kind. Which is something I'm not sure I trust PGI to handle as it risk having Kurita being allowed nice things and whoever wrote those news blurbs for PGI trying to explain how PGIs map bugs fit into the story.

Heck adding anything new to the game, besides redoing already created content like heat, would be nice. New maps, weapons, modes. New mechs do not mean much.

Just feels like the right time to change things up and maybe reinvent the mode. Whith the reduction in buckets and dropping to 2 primary factions it would fit the lore of the Jihad Era and provide PGI with the chance to just put everyone on a level balanced playing field.

Except for all the Blakists nukes. Need a counter to that.

Resource wise PGI could switch the map fairly quickly and easily. They are working on the Bucket Changes now. Include the Faction events they talked about. Slowly roll out the new tech. Then rub their hands greedily thinking about all the new mech packs they can put together and sell.

It would take the same effort to add all the new equipment as it did to make the Clans- like 6-8 months of dedicated work. Now, igp forced them to do that. I don't think they would volunteer to do that again.

However, in the One Bucket system there is no reason not to add WoB as an IS faction.

Not saying we get all the new toys at the start. That would be to much to ask for.

But a month or 6 down the road BAM

****LIGHT FUSION ENGINES PRE-SALE *

I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR
