Who needs writing when you have copious and gratuitous bloodshed and nudity? Isn't the what Spartacus, etc has taught us? (MORE SAND FOR THE COLISEUM!)
Honestly, I always felt the novels themselves were hardly anything to sling praise at. Doesn't help that there are essentially no likable or even remotely noble characters to root for, just varying degrees of pettiness and villainy. Well,
Brienne of Tarth is an exception to that, though at times I felt she epitomized the "Lawful Stupid" Paladin too much. In any case, I can't say I understand the fervor for the show.
]I'd rather watch Vikings. (Well, or did, until the stupidity that was last season)
