You realize this change was implemented exactly for people like you?
Except they went "We can't enjoy MWO by waiting 50 minutes for a game in queue so we need to force other players to play our mode!"

I never had issues upon waiting for a game with the old way. Example: I was selecting Assault and it took about the same time as now and I never played anything else than that.
